Hello!!
My name is Mya Starnes. I'm from and currently live in Lexington, Ky. I'm twenty years old and plan to spend the next few years travelling.

I recently worked a seasonal job on Mackinac Island, Michigan. A tiny, beautiful place with no cars and many horses. I worked in a hotel restaurant as a prep cook, bakers assistant, and busser. My coworkers were from all over the country and beyond. The best six months of my life were spent living and working with them.
That experience has made me desperate to see more of the world. In April I'm heading to Juneau, Alaska. I'll be working with a company that gives helicopter tours over a glacier! When my time there is up, I look forward to spending some time outside the US. I'm thinking of going to New Zealand first but would love some recommendations!

For now, I'm grateful to be staying at my family's home for the holidays. My mom recently had a surgery that has made her pretty immobile. I've taken over making most of the family meals. I also help with cleaning, laundry, dishes, and walking the family dog Brody. I work at a local coffee and donut shop with some of my favorite people. When I'm not home or working, I'm usually on a hike with my brother Eli or seeing a band with friends. I love to read, bake, and find new music. I've recently started playing Dungeons & Dragons with a small group and it's been a blast.

I'm looking to volunteer from mid-January through March. I'm a hard worker who is willing to take on any task with some instruction. I would love to hear about the lives of my hosts and possibly pick up some new skills from them!
