Hi!

I'm Karolina and I'm currently in my late twenties, trying to get more familiar with the world :)

After studying psychology for just a little while, I decided to give up that path and see what else I could become. I sold my camera lens and hitchhiked through the winter, falling in love with life on the road. Since then I try to do whatever feels right at the moment. I believe that following your voice can lead to a very happy life.

Although I’ve been traveling for almost seven years now, I do not strive to see as much as possible and that's partly why I look for unique places to stay at. Usually, when I find one that speaks to me, or people that I treasure, I come back to them whenever I can. It is the people, their stories and different ways of living that become an endless source of inspiration for what I do. In my past volunteering experiences I was a nature guide in Crete where I taught visitors about local flora and fauna, I helped with an accommodation business in Cambodia and at the sheep farm in Iceland, broadened my knowledge about urban gardening and use of medicinal herbs in California and worked at the goat farm in the desert mountains of New Mexico where I've learnt the principles of an off-grid, sustainable living while taking care of the goats and making cheese.

I move at my own pace, cherishing the moments and connections, capturing them through various mediums. I spend a lot of time tending to my artistic passions, so in my free time I usually paint, draw or photograph on film. I love to read, walk or just sit in nature and I enjoy cooking as well. I commit to the work and I’m having a really hard time leaving it imperfect, although I’m learning to let it go sometimes. I would like to become more at ease with discomfort and not knowing what’s coming next. It’s funny that I still struggle with it after all these years of constant changes. But hey, everybody’s gonna learn sometime!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

As I have already mentioned above, I had a chance to touch many trades and learn quite a bit of different skills along the way. That included much of the gardening work - weeding, cutting, planting, transplanting, collecting herbs, as well as handling the animals. I've helped on the goat farm where I took care of the herd and milking process and picked up bits of knowledge on cheesemaking. I lived in a wooden cabin in the high desert with no running water and solar power only, so I can confidently say I adapt to different kinds of environments/living conditions easily and enjoy close contact to nature.

I also had a chance to work in different places related to hospitality, whether in town guesthouses and hotels, or at the off grid tropical lodgings. The latter one was the more unique experience as us and the guests were the only people on the island, so we'd spent majority of the time together. Also, the ecological nature of the place required completely different approach than usual. That is to say I'm no stranger to the compost toilets ;) But I've also learned to be mindful about our natural resources and living in sync with nature. Those experiences taught me to cover the duties at the reception desk, but also housekeeping (cleaning the rooms, common spaces, changing the bedsheets etc.) and cooking and serving food. I'm always happy to help in the kitchen and share meals together.

Occasionally I also teach English to the kids and pick up freelance translating gigs.
