I'm on an 8 month trip combining work and travel. I'm currently in Australia but I'll soon be back in Asia where I hope to meet some like-minded people and join an interesting project or two

Hi,
I'm Mary, and I come from NW Scotland.
I'm a happy, calm and outgoing individual who is very adaptable and difficult to faze!

I'm an artist (painter) and art teacher by trade, although I also have a TESOL certificate for English teaching, and a lot of experience in the hospitality industry. I have worked in several small, boutique-style hotels, two of which had a Michelin star. I ran my own successful Bed and Breakfast for 11 years as well as my own gallery (for 20 years) which sold my landscape paintings.

I have also been a gardener and am currently trying to write a book, after completing my Masters in Creative Writing.

I am self-employed with my Sketching Holidays business, but at the moment I'm between homes (having sold up in 2024 and gained my freedom), and travelling within the UK and abroad, which I try to fit around the scheduled holidays.

I'm looking for interesting placements where I can either earn a wage or earn my keep in exchange for a few hours work, leaving me some time to paint, write and work on my holidays website.

I especially love work which involves being outside in nature, helping with animals/pets, and gardening. I'm passionate about conservation.

I'm told I'm a good cook...really I'm more of a 'throw it all together in one pot' type, but I do enjoy it, and I'm a plant-based foodie. I'd be willing to cook vegetarian food also, but as I don't eat dairy products, I'd rather do vegan.

Also, of course, I can teach English or painting!

I am willing to consider any work and am more interested in the location... I love beautiful and interesting places away from big cities.

I would consider a VERY long-term position if there was payment or a chance to earn from another source whilst volunteering, in the right location! But equally happy with a variety of short-term experiences in interesting new places.
