Description

My name is Marjolein, I am 23 years old and I've just graduated from my Bachelors' in Global Sustainability Science (Netherlands). As of next September, I will be starting my Masters' degree in Sustainable Development, but in the meantime there is nothing I'd rather do than travel, meet new people/cultures/lifestyles, and do my part in making the world a better place outside of academia.

I am extremely passionate about nature and animals. I love to sport, hike and climb and I am always looking for adventure. I am very creative and want to spend the rest of my life finding ways to combine art and sustainability; something I hope to achieve in research but even more in practice. I want to spend the next months submerged in nature, finding ways to slow down and find peace, tranquility and acceptance for all.

What more? I play the guitar as well as bass guitar and I write my own songs that I love to perform. I love working with my hands, and am at home around pencils, paint and markers. I also write a lot, and am currently in the process of finishing my own book. I am also starting to get into photography and videography, and would love to learn more about media and using online platforms to promote projects I think are important. I also like to do yoga and meditation. And read- I love to read, as well as have endless conversations about things that truly matter in life.

I am motivated, social, independent and a quick learner. I love working outdoors as well as indoors, and am open to doing all kinds of different chores (even though my real passion lies in anything creative). I've already done three Workaways, two of them on farms and one of them in an old yoga centre that needed to be rebuilt. I am fluent in English and Dutch and I have my drivings' license. Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I know a lot about sustainability and sustainable change/development, so I can brainstorm about ways to optimize sustainable projects. I am creative and can teach instruments, songwriting, drawing, etc.
I am a great writer and have written for multiple (small scaled) magazines and websites. Together with my newfound interest in photography, I would love to help and work on my skills in e.g. digital marketing and creative projects. I could, for example, write articles, make videos, or create immersive social media posts.
Currently, I'm working in a garden centre (Intratuin), so I also have some knowledge in plants and outdoor garden work. As I have already completed two Workaway projects on farms (and childcare), I could also carry out chores in those areas. I love taking care of animals, and especially horses and dogs! I am not very skilled with tools and building things, but I am super open and eager to learn.
I am a climber and I have my indoor toprope as well as lead climbing certificate, might that be handy. I love sports and am very active.
I have some knowledge of yoga and meditation and would love to host e.g. a meditation session.
And of course I can carry out basic chores around the house (cooking, cleaning, etc), but I don't think that needs elaboration ;)

But most of all; I would love to do anything or everything creative- I'm sure I can bring a lot to the table in that area!
