Hi! I'm Luka. I’ve just finished my bachelor's degree in Future Planet Studies at the University of Amsterdam, where I focused on sustainability and climate change, but also in Marine Biology. Before starting my masters (I have no clue in what) I'm taking a gap year to explore South America, meet new people and cultures and to learn Spanish during my stay there; I love languages, especially Spanish.

I'm really looking forward to going away on my own and taking a step into the unknown. Surrounded by people with different backgrounds and environments. I will be traveling through different countries during 3 months, but I am also planning on staying somewhere for a month to learn the language, connect with new people, but also spread knowledge myself by teaching something I have learned.

It feels a bit silly to describe myself, but I would say that I’m an enthusiastic person that smiles a lot. I believe that I'm quite comfortable and easily adaptable in social settings. I enjoy reading good books or poetry and writing is also something I try to do every now and then. I prefer quiet places close to nature rather than big cities with millions of people. I like to walk around and go on unplanned adventures (and accidently almost get lost). I do a bit of gymnastics (although I have to improve my skills again) and I really enjoy playing a game of biljard.

I currently work as a floormanager in a small, popular restaurant in Amsterdam. I did this part time during my studies and until the start of my travels I will work there full time. Two colleagues of mine are from Peru, with whom I already try to speak a little Spanish. They really motivated me to visit south America!

I'm very interested in learning Spanish. I already have a small knowledge in latin languages so i'm eager to learn more. At work im surrounded by Spanish speaking people and I just love Spanish spoken movies. In short, I just want to be able to speak Spanish fluently myself!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I am well studied in Sustainability, Biology and climate change related subjects. My native language is Dutch, but I kind of mastered English, since almost all studies in Amsterdam are taught in English. Besides that I am also able to speak French and German quite well.

During my free time, I am a bartender, pizza chef and floormanager in a nice and cosy restaurant in de Jordaan area of Amsterdam.

I have been traveling a lot already since I was little, but I have only made a trip all by myself just once; a couple months ago, to Sri Lanka, which was a life changing experience!
