Hi, I'm Luca, I'm 22 and from York in the UK.

Why I want to do Workaways and travel:
I love new adventures, experiencing new places, and meeting new people. I would like to see as much of the world as I can in my life and help put back into it by contributing to other people's lives as they contribute to mine.

Travel experience in the last year:
I've been traveling around Europe for the last 11 months and visited a number of countries. Including a workaway in Berlin (November 2022), worked a ski season in Morzine France as a pizza chef (December 2022-April 2023), Travelling around Italy (April 2023), worked as a host/chef on charter yachts in Croatia and Greece (May - July 2023) and worked on a surf camp on the west coast of France (August - October 2023).

Education:
I went to a Steiner school in York from 3 to 13. Then I went to the local secondary school from 13 to 18. In sixth form, I studied Geography, Business, and Biology. I then studied Geography for 1 year at university.

Interests:
I love nature, outdoor activities, and sports; including, hiking, bouldering, cycling, sailing, skiing, and surfing. I also enjoy exploring new cities, especially by foot and working out my way around, visiting museums and art galleries to learn about the history and culture of places. I also like literature, particularly Ernest Hemingway, his novels are part of what has inspired me to travel.

I am a native English speaker so I am more than happy to help people practice their spoken conversational English, and help them learn vocabulary. I would love to improve my ability in European languages. Particularly Portuguese I'm half Portuguese and I have a lot of family in Portugal. I would also love to learn Spanish as I hope to travel to South America one day.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I am a good enthusiastic worker, who is a quick and keen learner. I have worked in catering part-time and full-time since I was 16. I've worked in events catering in a range of roles, two pizzerias as a pizza chef and on charter yachts as a chef/host. This has helped develop my skills in teamwork, taking direction from leaders and managers, communicating with customers, as well as showing initiative when managers are busy.

I have child care experience. I worked on a children's summer camp in 2019 and 2022, looking after children aged 6-12 for two weeks while camping.
Since 2018 I have helped coach children 12-17 at the local rowing club that I used to train at when I was a teenager. So I have experience in leadership and teaching older children too.
In November 2022 I did a workaway with a family in Berlin helping to look after the children as well as helping with cooking and cleaning.

I have some laboring experience from working with my mum's cousin, doing garden work, and some DIY odd jobs in properties he was renovating. It has been a couple of years since I've done this but I hope I would pick these skills up again quickly. I would like to improve my construction and DIY skills.
