I am traveling with my partner and we are only looking for places that accommodate couples.

My name is Lisa, 24 years old and living in a small city apartment in the Netherlands together with my boyfriend. I consider myself a social, easy-going person who likes to try out new things. I am very passionate about nature, therefore love spending my days hiking, going for a bike ride or doing other outdoor activities. I am also a huge animal lover. I take care of my parents 5 year old dog twice a week and used to look after an Friesian horse. Being around animals and nature is very important to me because it makes me feel calm and relaxed. In my free time, just to escape everything, I bury myself in books. Yes… I read a lot, like a lot a lot (but no classic literature though, just a sucker for fantasy).

I have previous workaway experience in Norway and Canada, where I spent a total of 5 months living with different hosts. During my stays, I helped with animal care, gardening, cooking, and various household chores. For me, workaway is the ultimate way to travel because it allows me to immerse myself in different cultures and build connections with new people.

I have just finished my bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering. So, before starting with full-time jobs, my boyfriend and I want to do one last grand adventure: exploring Australia.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I love being around animals so I would enjoy taking care of them. I can also help with cleaning, cooking and other stuff around the house. Although I have a degree in engineering, I am not a true handywoman. But... I will not back down from a challenge. I am a quick learner and eager to learn new things.

During my six month stay in Australia there are several things I am eager to explore and learn about.

I am starting to learn more about gardening and realizing more and more that growing your own food is very important for the future. I would love to learn more about different types of gardens, understand plants have to take care of them and the relationships between plants and their environment.

Apart from gardening, I am really excited to learn about the Australian culture, explore the diverse flora and fauna, and perhaps even learn to surf (despite my slight fear of deep waters...). Additionaly, be part of the everyday life at a farm, meet people and gain new experiences. I would also love to share some interesting facts about Dutch culture with you or some Dutch language insights.
