Hello! I am Lies (35).

My dream is to live on the countryside, off the grid, have a big garden and cook beautiful, delicious, nutricious food from it. A place where I can live with the elements, connect to people and my body and welcome guests.

In harmony with that dream I ran my own little garden with friends, I just finished a year of bio-dynamic farming school and worked for a year in a market-garden at the outskirts of Amsterdam.

I have a lot of experience in hospitality. I worked the last 7 years as a manager at a cafe: a neighbourhood cafe where all food is made from scratch. I manage operations, hosting, barista, little cooking, simple bookkeeping. I love working in a team and creating something together. Creating a safe, inviting, committed but fun community - where everybody feels seen - and the love for homemade, real food, made of local produce is my drive...

In my spare time I love to read, walk, bring my coffee somewhere outside, going to the market en cooking with delicious, organic food. Watching sunsets. I like good converstions but also just being in each others company is sometimes enough for me. Very simple things but doing them slow and with presents. Allthough I can work hard, rest, yoga and meditation are very important to me. Playing games, picknicking or dancing is what I love to do most with my friends. I'm a very empathic person, sweet, honest and responsible.

The next six months I am travelling throughout Europe with my car; soaking up inspiration, knowledge and connect with people that live (parts of) a similar lifestyle as my dream describes. With WorkAway I mostly love to deepen my garden skills, learn more about running a hostel/hotel/bed and breakfast, off-grid systems and building structures.
