Hi! My name is Lee. I was born and raised on a small farm/ranch in rural Southern Utah. Now. my wife and I, live in a small rural community in Quebec. The region we live in is very francophone! That being the case, I'm currently trying to learn French. I'm looking for a French immersion experience. For my first experience with Workaway, I will be traveling alone as my wife is perfectly bilingual in English and French. When I'm with her, I look to her for help with French all the time.

A bit about myself. As I mentioned, I was born and raised on a small farm/ranch. I learned how to work at a young age. I also learned to love caring for animals, gardening, harvesting and working with the land. In college I majored in chemistry and minored in math. I was able to use my education in my career, where I worked in the chemical industry and subsequently became a teacher. My favorite job is my current one, being retired!

Other things I enjoy are experiencing different cultures and different ways of doing things, hiking (I love the Alps!), technology, gardening, fitness, and a healthy lifestyle. Although I'm no longer a 'spring chicken', I'm active and fit. Last year, my wife and I, hiked the Tour de Mont Blanc followed by the Walker's Haute Route. What a wonderful adventure! This year we will be hiking in the French Alps. We are really looking forward to it!

From a personal perspective, I'm not particularly shy, but I don't like being the center of attention. I prefer small groups to crowds. I'm a bit self conscious about my French speaking ability, so patient but insistant encouragement would be greatly appreciated. I would like to have access to someone that does not speak English, thus being forced to communicate in French.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

As I grew up on a small farm, I can use a tractor with a variety of implements, use most power tools, build or repair a fence, and care for animals in both a personal and a more large scale perspective. I'm not a 'techie' but I'm reasonably proficient with technology. I can lay-out, plant, maintain, and harvest a garden. Along the same theme I can help with landscaping and maintaining a yard.

I do love animals. Few things bring me as much joy as having a dog or a cat curled up on my lap. And I do have an inviting lap!

I exercise regularly, which consists of light weight training and cardio (stationary bike).
