Hi I'm Katherine (but go by Katie)! I am currently living in Edinburgh, Scotland where I am just about to finish my undergraduate degree. I have always loved traveling, but feel like a typical week-long holiday is never enough for me to truly get to know the place I'm visiting. I'm really excited to use workaway as an opportunity to see and get to know new people and places for a longer period of time.

Living in a major city the past four years, I feel really drawn to spending more time in nature and reconnecting with the environment. I'm a very active and energetic person who loves spending time outside. My friends would describe me as hardworking and enthusiastic to learn. I'm always up for a challenge and to try new things!

I would really love to improve my French. I am pretty comfortable reading and writing in French, but could use some improvement in my speaking and listening. Mostly I would like to become more confident in my ability to communicate with others.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Over the years I have worked numerous jobs which has allowed me to become very adaptable and flexible! As a teenager, I volunteered at local animals shelters and horse stables, so I am very confident being around animals and would love to reconnect with this passion of mine.

More recently I have worked multiple customer service jobs, so I am very comfortable meeting and socializing with people of all different backgrounds. I love working with kids as well! I've worked as a tutor for history, English and maths, and have been volunteering at a children's charity for the past four years which has been such an incredible experience. I'm learning French right now, but would be more than happy to speak English with anyone who is wanting to learn :)

Outside of work/volunteer experience, I really enjoy cooking and baking for my friends and am comfortable working in a kitchen. Though we're amateur handymen, my friends and I are always trying to fix up our flat when we can. This includes painting walls, moving furniture, and fixing the constantly wobbly shelf in our fridge.
