Hi, I'm Kate. I'm a self employed painter and decorator so I am used to hard work and getting a job done well! Being self employed, I enjoy using the freedom this gives me to have adventures and take up interesting part time work as a way of exploring and meeting new people. I work at music festivals in the summer months and last year I spent 6 months as a campsite warden on the isle of Skye. I spent 2 weeks on a workaway a few years ago in France and loved it. I have lived and worked in Zimbabwe and Egypt, and have travelled a lot in India and South America. I have done two workaways, in France and Gran Canaria. I am motivated by living life to the full, which for me means having expriences rather than focusing on a career or earning lots of money. I am very easy going and easy to host.

Hola, soy Kate. Soy pintor y decorador autónomo, así que estoy acostumbrado a trabajar duro y a hacer bien el trabajo. Al trabajar por cuenta propia, disfruto de la libertad que esto me brinda para tener aventuras y realizar trabajos interesantes a tiempo parcial como una forma de explorar y conocer gente nueva. Trabajo en festivales de música durante los meses de verano y el año pasado pasé 6 meses como guardián de un camping en la isla de Skye. Hace unos años pasé 2 semanas en un workaway en Francia y me encantó. He vivido y trabajado en Zimbabwe y Egipto, y he viajado mucho por India y Sudamérica. He realizado dos workaways, en Francia y Gran Canaria. Me motiva vivir la vida al máximo, lo que para mí significa tener experiencias en lugar de centrarme en una carrera o ganar mucho dinero. Soy muy tranquilo y fácil de hospedar.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have plenty of experience with painting and decorating, but I prefer to do something different for a workaway as it is nice to have a change from my day job. I'd be happy to take on smaller projects such as hanging paper for a feature wall or painting items of furniture. My French workaway involved chopping wood to heat the house of my host. I learned to use a chainsaw and by the end of the 2 weeks was very good at splitting logs down with an axe. I also cleared brambles and did some pruning. On Gran Canaria I helped on a finca: Digging ditches, feeding the animals, weeding and planting. My work as a decorator keeps me very fit so I am good at tasks which require strength and stamina. I enjoy working outside and though I don't have much gardening knowledge, I can follow instructions and don't mind getting my hands dirty. I am pretty handy with most D.I.Y. tasks and if I don't know how to do something am confident to look it up and am not afraid to ask and learn new skills. I can use a drill and a jigsaw to do tasks such as putting up shelves, curtain poles, blinds etc. Overall, I'm a practical, strong person who is good at getting jobs done.

I love being outdoors in nature, whether camping, walking, cycling or swimming in the sea. I am a good cook and although I eat meat sometimes, I am also good at creating vegetarian or vegan meals. I play a bit of guitar and would like to improve.
