  • Description

Hi my name is Kamil, glad you checked out my profile.

I was born in a small town in Poland, but raised in the big City of Chicago. Not too long ago I returned to Europe to travel and see what I missed during my childhood. After doing a few work and travel programs in Europe (UK, Hungary, Poland) I realised that I really enjoy this type of Lifestyle, where I get to interacting with people from different countries and help them with passionate projects.

One of my favourite project or work and travel programs was back in England, where I helped two elderly men with renovating their house and helping them with LOTS of gardening work. They needed a strong young man to help them move many things, dig holes, clean, repair doors and stuff like this, and I did it all. I spent around 2 months working, hanging out, having a great experience with these two men. Some nights we'd stay up, drink wine, and tell stories... that was my favourite part actually.

Another experience of mine was working at a Hostel in Krakow, Poland. Where I worked morning shift, so I had to start the day around 5:00 am to pickup the laundry from the laundry man, make breakfast, socialise with the guest, and do a bit of cleaning. This experience thought me how to work in a team environment, and how to keep a positive attitude with all different types of characters.

I also had other Work and Travel experiences early in the USA, working at a Ski Resort, a Hotel and also a French Cafe.

I really enjoy this type of lifestyle and would like to gather more experiences like these, and meet more people around the world.

I speak fluent English, Polish and mediocre Spanish (but practicing everyday). I can also play the guitar, I know lots about design and video work, and running a brand on social media. and I can write like a true Writer.

    OBJECTIVE
    ——————————————————————————————————
To provide an outstanding service in position assigned, and to do this with enthusiasm. To commit myself to this work so that I can learn and prosper with the company. And along the way provide creative ideas, and be a team player so everyone benefits in the long-run.

    ——————————————————————————————————
    SKILLS
    ——————————————————————————————————
I think the most crucial skill-set a person can acquire is honesty, because honesty is a fundamental piece to a great employee. I have learned about honestly through working for someone for approximately six years now. I want to be very honest with my employer because this gives him/ her an understanding of what I need to do to be more effective at my job. Along the way I have also learned about being responsible and to always show up on time. This is just something that is ingrained now, because I don't want someone worrying due to my tardiness. I am also a great team player, after I complete my part of the job I am always there to help a person if needed. And lastly, I understand that I need to be optimistic even if something goes wrong, and just move on and learn from my mistakes.

    EXPERIENCE 1 - BARISTA/ SERVER/ HOUSEKEEPER ——————————————————————————————————
    DATE: March 16th - June 1st, 2018
    POSITION: Barista/ Back Server/ Housekeeper
    COMPANY: Devil's Thumb Resort
    EMPLOYER: Damaris (Restaurant Manager)
    LOCATION: Fraser, Colorado

    Responsibilities:
My responsibilities at this job were to firstly arrive at the Coffee Shop around 6:30 am. I then had to set pastries out on the display, this also included restocking of drinks and snacks. Afterwards, making sure that all the coffee machines were brewing coffee, and that I had enough cups and lids. Once the preparation was completed, I turned on the register and unlocked all the doors.

During my shift I was responsible for assisting costumers with orders, and whatever all of their needs. I would make Espresso drinks, sandwiches and would serve pastries, and if time allowed, I would clean up the Café a bit or just socialise with the costumers. Sometimes I had to work closing shifts, and this required for me to count the money, clean up the Café, throw away the garbage, prepare for the day ahead, and communicate with management to make sure everything was completed correctly.

My experience at the Devil’s Thumb Resort:
After my YMCA contract ended I decided to relocated to a different Resort, which also offered a similar work and travel experience, but the salary was a bit higher. I started by working as a Barista, and eventually began working additional hour in other departments, such as the restaurant, and also did a but of overtime in housekeeping.
I met many great friends here, who were mostly internationals, and because of them I learnt about being a part of a community, and helping one another as brother and sister. And I also realised that learning comes through taking risks, and putting yourself out there, and that no one is going to do it for you, you have to be brave and just go for what you want.

    EXPERIENCE 2 - FOOD SERVICE/ HOUSEKEEPING ——————————————————————————————————
    DATE: November 27th - March 13th, 2018
    POSITION: Food Service/ Housekeeper
COMPANY: YMCA of Winter Park - The Rockies
    EMPLOYER: Rodd (Restaurant Manager)
    LOCATION: Tabernash, Colorado
    NOTES: Work And Travel Program

During November I applied for a work and travel program in Colorado, after a bit of waiting I got a call from the Hiring Manager who told me I GOT THE JOB! I worked for the YMCA of Winter Park for approximately four months, it was a short contract, but I really enjoyed my time there.

I worked in Food Service, and had to do various types of jobs, from working as a Cashier, Server, and also a Kitchen Helper. This job taught me many valuable skills and gave me plenty of lessons.
Winter time at the YMCA brought many people, from experienced snowboarders, to large families, and even buses full of eager kids escaping school to spend some time up in the mountains snowboarding.
The Buffet was filled during the months of December and January, and due to this I had to adopt to working cooperatively as a team, and helping the internationals understand how to assist Americans.
At this job I had to serve food, clean up after people (a lot), assist visitors with directions and general advice. I also spent a lot of time as a helping-hand in the kitchen, assisting the Chefs, and making sure everyone was doing their job correctly.

    EXPERIENCE 3 - HOUSEKEEPING
    ——————————————————————————————————
    DATE: August 2010 - January 2017
POSITION: Assistant/ Supervisor/ Housekeeper COMPANY: Wicker Heights Co.
    EMPLOYER: Terry Klees (Owner)
    LOCATION: Chicago, Illinois

Back in Chicago I worked as an assistant for an elderly man, I worked for this man for approximately six years. When I first got hired I was responsible for minor tasks such as house keeping, laundry, and picking up groceries, and cooking. Later on I was assigned to focus on bigger tasks such as paperwork, supervising, and property management.

This job taught me plenty about being responsible, and being committed to one thing. I also learned about honesty, and that this one quality that can get you far in life. No one wants someone who is dishonest because there will be no solid relationship between employer and employee.
I left this job in December (2016) because I was relocating to another state, but now (2018) am working here part-time.

    EXPERIENCE 4 - HOUSEKEEPING
    ——————————————————————————————————
    DATE: October 2013 - January 2017
    POSITION: Housekeeper/ Assistant
    EMPLOYER: Darlene McLenden
    LOCATION: Chicago, Illinois

Besides my other job, I worked for this caring older lady, she hired me as a result of my other employer Terry. This was just a "here and there" gig. I helped Darlene with housekeeping, and other tasks, such as groceries, selling items on e-bay, and fixing stuff around the house. This job taught me a lot about having a great relationship with whomever you are working for, because this can bring joy into the work you do, and maybe you'll make an extra friend.
