Hey,
I am Julie and here is a a little bit about myself.
Spending time in nature has always been a source of great energy, joy, and gratitude for me. My deep connection to nature and love for animals inspired me to pursue a degree in biology, with a master’s focused on conservation biology and environmental sciences. My final project was then focusing on the three-way interaction between plants, arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, and herbivores/pollinators.
Over the years, I’ve been involved in several nature conservation and agroecology projects, and I recently completed an internship in organic plant breeding. I am a passionate hiker and climber and I enjoy backpacking and camping. Next year, I’m setting off on a journey through South America, starting in Patagonia, a dream destination I’ve had for years. From there, I plan to travel further north, exploring wherever the road leads me. Along the way, I hope to contribute to climate change efforts, support biodiversity conservation, and engage in the knowledge exchange that these projects foster. One of my long-term dreams is to start or join a communal farm, so part of my journey is to gain experience in sustainable living and permaculture and learn from those who have already embraced this lifestyle.
In addition to my love for nature, I’m a sports enthusiast, enjoying activities like cycling, badminton, SUP paddle boarding, horseback riding, surfing, and skiing. Yoga is an integral part of my daily routine. Outside of my active lifestyle, I have a passion for photography, watching films (especially Wes Anderson’s), and sharing meals with friends and family. I also love cooking, particularly experimenting with new recipes, and have some experience in gastronomy from my summer job at a street food market, waitressing in a dim sum restaurant in Prague, and helping a friend launch her onigirazu business.
I’m excited to meet interesting and inspiring people, as well as to experience different places and cultures – these are the reasons I’m so passionate about traveling!
