Description

My name is Julia, I am creative, adventurous, and curious. I am self-motivated and take quickly to new skills. My hobbies embody these ideas; from being a seasoned rock climber, lover of sewing & textile crafts, and a professional naturalist & guide, I love sharing in the beautiful pieces of life with other enthusiastic learners.

I desire to travel because I enjoy learning through experience, and I seek cultural immersion.
I have lived in a national park - Yosemite - for nearly two years. The living is modest in means, but always exciting for the thrill-seekers. During this time I have enjoyed communal living in tent cabins and shared dormitories, so I have experience with limited housing options. Throughout my time in Yosemite, I have gained a profound appreciation for community and minimal living - this is something I value and hope to expand upon in other stunning & interesting places in the world.

For these reasons, I am thrilled to embark on my first Workaway experience.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

We have a wide range of skills between the two of us and are always eager to learn more.

Billy grew up on a farm in Georgia, so working with large animals and growing small crops of produce are familiar and comfortable. He also worked with his family business for eight years renovating and building rental houses. He sails the British Virgin Islands with his family every year and so knows the ropes very well.

Julia is a very talented seamstress and enjoys indulging in textile arts. She works as a professional naturalist/tour guide and has to be self-motivated in her research, ensuring all the information she shares with guests is accurate and current. She is very experienced in caring for animals.

Together we have very extensive rock climbing experience, it is our greatest passion and we have grown very close living and climbing in Yosemite National Park for almost two years. Recently we spent four days and nights on El Capitan and are excited to take our love for the sport with us abroad. The Past two years here have also given us much experience in hospitality work, everything from guest reception, bussing tables, housekeeping, retail, and restaurant hosting. We cook together in a community kitchen most nights and love to experiment with flavors from different cultures.

We are a couple which means we are happy to share our accommodation and have experience maintaining a space together - we'll be tidy!
We will be traveling from January through April 2025 and are mostly interested in stays that are greater than 2 weeks.

We love board games, enjoying dinner together, camping, and generally just getting outside!
