Hello!

My name is Juan José Price.

I am 49 years old and come from Chile. After working for almost twenty years as an economics lecturer and researcher—in universities in Chile and in Denmark—I decided to step away from academia. I wanted to see the world in a different way, travel slowly, and live a simpler, more enriching life. I am currently in England doing research for a personal literary project after walking part of the Camino de Santiago in France and Spain, and I am ready to dedicate the next year to community service.

My true fulfilment has always come from social projects. I have been fortunate enough to travel widely and live abroad for a total of five years across England, Australia, and Denmark, which helped me appreciate different ways of living. Back home, alongside my academic job, I helped set up a charity that brought live music to vulnerable communities and worked with a microfinance organisation supporting female entrepreneurs in underprivileged areas.

I am very used to the hands-on reality of volunteering and education. My experience includes teaching mathematics and offering popular music workshops (guitar and singing) in less privileged areas, providing end-of-life companionship, and completing successful Workaway placements in France (2017) and Denmark (2019). I am a native Spanish speaker, fully bilingual in English, and I have an intermediate level of French.

I always travel with my guitar and a genuine desire to connect with people. I would love to bring my teaching experience, flexibility, and energy to your project.

To share a bit more about where I come from, I was born and raised in Santiago, but for the last five years, I have lived in Viña del Mar, right next to Valparaíso—a historic port city shaped by a significant flow of foreign immigration during the 19th and early 20th centuries. I come from a big, beautiful family: my mother, five siblings, and thirteen nephews and nieces. My dad and my younger sister have left our visible world, but they are always with us.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Story teller: I took a theatre course (for beginners) a few years ago and love reading stories to children
I like working in the garden (I am not an expert but I know the basics and am keen to learn more)
I can be of help in the house with all class of domestic duties (e.g. cleaning)
I can teach math to school children as well as English and Spanish to children and adults.
Language exchange (I am fluent in English and Spanish and have an intermediate level of Portuguese and French. I am now learning italian).
