Hi! I’m John, a traveler with a passion for hands-on work, outdoor adventures, and learning from new experiences. I love camping, hiking, climbing, skiing, intentional living, and seeking out adventure, all while connecting with new people along the way. I have a background in biology and conservation, with experience in fieldwork, plant identification, and other hands-on outdoor projects. I’ve worked on multiple permaculture-style farms, as well as in hospitality. With that being said, I’m comfortable with a wide range of tasks, including farming, gardening, and general project-based work. I’ve spent extended periods in remote regions, including central Alaska and the American Southwest, so I’m used to a slower pace of life and isolated environments. Physically fit and used to long days outdoors, I thrive in both structured and flexible work settings. As far as languages, I speak English and am actively working on improving my Spanish to better connect with local communities and learn from those around me.

I travel to build new skills, challenge myself, and learn from different perspectives. I’m especially drawn to experiences where I can contribute meaningfully while fully immersing myself in local life. I love exploring new cultures, getting my hands dirty, and sharing in the everyday adventure of a new place. Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Biology & Ecology

I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a focus in Ecology. I previously worked in conservation doing hands-on fieldwork and plant identification. I’ve also spent time on several permaculture-style farms, where I’ve helped with various aspects of sustainable agriculture and land stewardship.

DIY & Project Work

I’m comfortable taking on a variety of practical projects. Through living and working on different farms, and occasionally helping my brother with his off-grid permaculture homestead, I’ve worked on tasks like building an outhouse, helping set up basic solar and electrical components, caring for seedlings, and assisting with simple irrigation work. I pick things up quickly, enjoy problem-solving, and don’t mind putting in the physical effort.

Hospitality

My hospitality background includes several years of food and beverage work, lodge roles, and ski resort jobs. I genuinely enjoy working with people and creating a welcoming environment.

Off-Grid Living & Self-Sufficiency

Extended time living and working in remote regions has taught me practical self-sufficiency and familiarity with basic off-grid systems. I’m comfortable in isolated, slower-paced settings and adapt well to living simply.
