Hello everyone, a pleasure to meet you :)

(Please let it be noted that my reply rate is only so low because I missed one Initial message from a host sending me a request and I only ealized recently that Initial requests from Hosts who send the first message are the only ones that are taken into Account for these ratings. Ususally I'm a fairly quick responder!)

My name is Johanna and I'm 23 years old from Germany. From an early age on I've been curious about other cultures and foreign countries and wanted to travel the world. For a long time chronic illness Held me back from embarging on my personal discovery journey but now I can handle my situation okay and am ready to make up for lost time.

I'm a nature girl by heart and love nothing more than being surrounded by an endless expanse of beautiful landscape. I especially love the ocean, the open plains and mountains. I also love to be around animals, especially horses and dogs.

I have a calm but curious personality. I'm reliable and responsible and will always do everything I can to treat you, your house and your culture with respect. I'm tolerant and open and while I have firm opinions that I always love to discuss I don't judge anyone, as long as they don't harm others and treat them with respect as well.
I enjoy to be active and get physical and practice various sports, though right now it's mostly Yoga and Fitness. I love to be handy and creative and love to be surrounded by music.
I have two younger siblings, so I'm used to children and family settings, but I also don't mind only being around adults for a change ;) I can adapt well to new surroundings and look forward to immerse myself into new settings and bring my calm but cheery energy to the table.

I studied ethnology and social work in university but haven't been entirely happy with it, so I currently take a break from studying to learn more about myself to better decide what I want to do in life.

Due to my social work studies, various internships in that field and experience with my family I can work Well with children and in community settings. I can communicate Well and am very reliable. I also have experience teaching.
I do great with any organisational or managing tasks.

Hosting Johanna was an awesome experience. Johanna is hard working, clean and has a good heart.

We worked on all kinds of projects: cleaning, landscaping, burning stuff. We did some jiu-jitsu and even had some adventures with some of the neighbors/police, haha!

Staying with this family was my second Workaway Experience and I really enjoyed it. I was looking for a place to stay on Vancouver Island Last minute and thanks to Kirsten and Blake it all worked out for me.

I learned so much during my stay! It was my first time doing gardening work and at first it seemed a little hard, but Kirsten always encouraged me and told me very clearly what to Do and So I grew confident and stronger very fast And I really grew to like gardening work, cooking and caring for plants! All the family's Work was very inspiring to me. I did various Jobs like Harvesting, caring for the greenhouse, cleaning and organizing a few parts of the garden, weeding, a little bit of landscaping, preparing a New garden bed and processing food an herbs. My Favorite Part was all the yummy ways to process Apples and leaening about herbal tea.
Kirsten always checked in with me and took into consideration how I was feeling while also pushing me to be more confident and trusting in my abilities.

During my stay I was Staying in the converted VW Bus outside of the house, which was a very nice, cosy and enjoyable place. It gets very cold during the night though, as the Bus isnt completely insulated, so be prepared for that. In terms of Privacy, the Bus isnt completely covered but the family makes sure to Knock and announce their presence. It didn't bother me much, but you have to be comfortable with it.
I was invited to spend time in the Main house and with the family as well. Kirsten and Blake gave me very good Tips on destinations for my day off and how to get there and also took me to some places which I Appreciated a lot. Kirsten is a very knowledgeable woman and helped me to some very helpful Personal insights during my time there. It was always a pleasure to spend time with the family and the Kids are very fun and witty spirits.

Keep in mind that the Bus is probably the only way for you to get around (around 5 Dollars a ride) if you don't have a car and nothing really is in walking distance. The family have a bike that you can use, which would give you a few more opportunities, but while I was there it didn't work, so just consider that.

It was a pleasure to stay with this family and their cute pets on their beautiful property that is such a Testament of hard work and a Lifestyle of Harmony with nature. I would absolutely do it again!
