Hi! We are a recently married couple that have decided to travel the world for a little while. We thought for a long time about taking this leap and decided that now is the right time. We have always loved to travel, getting to know other cultures, being outdoors, gardening and more. Some of the values that we find most important and are driving factors in our lives are: family, community, justice, nature/sustainability, and physical movement.

A little bit about Adriana: I am a 30-year-old Chilean-American born in the United States. I grew up in Maryland, just outside of Washington DC, and now live in DC. Growing up I was lucky enough to get to travel quite a bit and stay with host families when I did. I am excited to get this opportunity again! Overall, I am a open, high-energy and outgoing person with a positive attitude. I love to learn and try new things! I am a native speaker of Spanish and English.

A little bit about Joseph: I am a 31-year-old Jewish American, born in the US (Texas). I grew up in Maryland, near Washington DC, where I now live. I have always loved travel, exploring and learning, languages, nature, and sports. I have enjoyed traveling to Costa Rica, Honduras, Chile, Spain, and Canada in the past. I am a fast learner and hard worker, with a good sense of humor. I am a native English speaker and am fluent in Spanish. I love to learn new languages!

We are open to language exchange and would be happy to share our English and Spanish, and learn any language that you are willing to share! I (Joseph) specifically love learning new languages. I am often using the radio or online apps like DuoLingo to try to learn some French, Arabic, Hebrew, Chinese, or other languages.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

We both have a variety of volunteer experience including community-focused and nature-focused work. Our main skills include:

- gardening: we both have experience with small-scale home gardening and would love to learn more about larger farming/gardening methods.
- foraging: Joseph is familiar with foraging some local fruits, nuts, and edible greens.
- working with children: Adriana is a school-based mental health therapist.
- cooking and baking: we both enjoy cooking and baking diverse foods.
- basic carpentry/"handyman" skills: Joseph has done some volunteer work building a solar-powered house, and some simple home repairs/maintenance.
- professional/office skills: we are both proficient in professional computer use, Microsoft Office, and other software. Joseph is a data scientist.
- animal lovers: we both grew up with pets and cared for pets as adults.

We are both very social and active people, who enjoy filling our time with family and friends. Adriana is a yoga instructor, and loves walking, pilates, and all other forms of movement. Joseph enjoys playing guitar occasionally, and listening to music. We are not especially skilled artists - but we love museums, live music, comedy, theatre, and doing arts and crafts. We both enjoy reading, and going on walks and hikes around town, the woods, the beach, anywhere!
