Description

Hello! My name is Havana and I am from British Columbia, Canada.

Growing up in BC has instilled in me a deep love of the ocean and the mountains and a great sense of adventure. I enjoy outdoor pursuits; particularly skiing, trail running, and sea kayaking. I have just graduated with my teaching degree and am looking forward to spending this year exploring new places, connecting with new people, and learning Spanish.

I have spent the last two summers working as a farmer and outdoor educator at a farm school. I am excited to learn new things and immerse myself in new ecosystems. I am passionate about working outside and helping to create sustainable food systems as well as empowering kids to do the same. I am hard working, comfortable around animals big and small, and not afraid to get my hands dirty.

I would like to workaway so that I can dive headfirst into the places I go and learn from the people I meet along the way. I would love to stray further away from traditional forms of tourism by working and actively contributing to the communities I visit!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

My past work experience has centered around childhood education, animal welfare, and exploring the outdoors. I have worked at a farm school which has given me experience working in the market garden as well as teaching students about sustainable agriculture (https://www.gibsonsfarm.ca/). I have also spent time teaching at an outdoor school as an educator as well as an elementary school teacher and love working with kids. I have lots of experience working in various barns mucking, feeding, grooming, and riding horses and feel at home around animals. Working in barns has made me love manual labour in the early mornings. Combining my love of the water and meeting people from around the world has led to working as a kayak guide in Belize as well as off the coast of Vancouver Island. I am a quick learner, enjoy hard work, and am up for anything!
