Description
I'm married to Marty Harding, who will be traveling and volunteering with me. Together we have 5 kids and 5 grandkids, whom we get to see often because they all live within an hour's drive. We have many skills and much experience to offer - accumulated through 60 some years of living and working and playing. We'll be more specific in the "skills" section. We love to be active and we're looking for more than a typical vacation and believe that "Workaway" can provide that opportunity for us. In fact, Workaway DID provide that opportunity for us in 2014 in northern Norway: http://www.workaway.info/839119588584-en.html "Help out on a small island in the north of Norway". We worked on a farm for a week, planting, weeding, harvesting and helping out as needed - even doing some masonry work. The experience was very rewarding for both Marty and me and also our hosts, Dag and Marion.

Marty and I are in good physical condition - we exercise daily and strive to eat a plant-based diet. We are both gardeners and farmers and have raised many animals, including chickens, horses, sheep, and geese. I constructed an earth-sheltered, passive solar, energy-efficient house in the 1980s and lived there for 20 years. Marty has run her own nonprofit business. We have secured grants - I, to build a government facility, Marty for operations for several nonprofits she has directed. She is an accomplished musician: choral conductor, composer, pianist and flutist. I sing in her choirs. I also am a nature photographer. Marty has traveled in every state in the US. I have visited most states and traveled to Europe four times. We have visited Costa Rica three times - I volunteered at the Cloud Forest School in Monteverde for a month and traveled as a Sister Park non-governmental organization representative to Corcovado National Park on the Osa Peninsula in Feb 2013.
