  • Description

Hello! My name is Gabrielle, a 22-year-old French student who has been studying film for the past four years. But today, I’ve decided to put away the books and lecture halls to follow my childhood dream: exploring the world. Where to begin? Asia, a continent that has always fascinated me with its traditions, landscapes, food, and stories, but one I know very little about so far.

I’m curious, sociable, and adaptable, ready to dive into all kinds of activities: working the land, exploring nature, joining cultural projects, or simply sharing everyday moments. Coming from Paris, where life moves fast, I want to slow down and experience life differently, far from the city’s hectic pace. I was born and raised in the countryside and mountains (the Alps), so I can't wait to get away from city life for a while and rediscover the calm of the great outdoors.

I love traveling, but I’m looking for something beyond regular tourism: a slower journey focused on connection and exchange. I was lucky to grow up in a family that loves traveling, but this time, it’s my turn to embark on an adventure my own way, solo.

I’m passionate about reading—whether it’s adventure novels, travel stories, manga, or Japanese literature. I never get tired of traveling through words. Naturally, I also love cinema, a field I hope to work in. I enjoy mainstream films and epic Hollywood stories, but also smaller, lesser-known productions. I’m a big fan of documentaries too, a branch of the audiovisual world where I’ve had some experience.

And finally, I’m a huge food lover. Nothing makes me happier than a good meal. I love trying everything (except broccoli!) and discovering new flavors.

I also enjoy staying active—hiking, gardening, crying over a beautiful sunrise, savoring a hot cup of coffee or tea, and listening to others share their stories.

This will be my first time trying Workaway, but I feel ready. I’m eager to meet people, share genuine moments, and learn new things. Whether it’s helping out in a garden, taking part in a project, or simply chatting over a good meal, I’m motivated and full of enthusiasm.

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I’ve picked up a bunch of skills over the years, some practical, some creative, and all fueled by a love for helping, sharing, and creating with others. Here’s a little glimpse:

I’ve had the chance to work with people in retirement homes and with individuals with disabilities. These experiences taught me patience, empathy. It’s not always easy, but it’s incredibly rewarding.

I’ve been playing volleyball since I was 13, and it’s more than just a sport for me – it’s where I learned about teamwork. I’ve even volunteered as an assistant coach for mixed teams between 4 and 10 years old, so I’m pretty good with kids!

Thanks to my studies in cinema and my passion for culture, I’ve worked on film shoots, documentaries, concerts, and all kinds of artistic projects. Whether it’s organizing, brainstorming, or solving last-minute chaos (because let’s face it, there’s always chaos), I love collaborating to bring ideas to life.

I also know practical magic. Okay, maybe not magic, but I’m pretty handy when it comes to administrative tasks, computer stuff, and general organization and I also have a degree in literature, so I'm pretty good with words :). Need help with emails, spreadsheets, or figuring out some boring paperwork? I’m your person!

And also, a little extra skill, though absolutely not professional: I love cooking and baking – especially French pastries !

Also, I have a cat and I’m a huge animal fan, from the tiniest creatures to the big ones!
