I'm Flavio, a 28 years old Uruguayan 🇺🇾traveler arrived in Australia on March 2025, under the conditions of a Working Holidays Visa abroad.
Before arrive here I have done a 3 and a half month trip to 9 countries in Asia and a couple of weeks to Egypt, Jordan and Turkey. This experience opened my eyes and awakened my curiosity to want to discover more of our beautiful planet.

I'm a beginner and passionate about gardening and permaculture. I'm especially interested in continuing to learn about working in the fields to live a sustainable life by growing my own food and sharing this knowledge by helping others. That's my dream and how I see my future, outside of the cities. Today I realize that this passion for the countryside has been with me since I was a child but Then I started and ended up studying an accounting degree. Living in the noisy city of Montevideo, I think I disconnected from my essence because I went into the autopilot that society puts you on if you don't open your eyes. Luckily, I have opened my eyes and my passion resurfaced strongly last year when I went on a trip and did agricultural volunteer work in a self-sufficient ecovillage in New Zealand. Later, I continued this path by traveling and experimenting in some families and communities for 3 months in Italy. There, I reconnected with nature and became aware of how poorly we are experiencing a capitalist, consumerist society, living in cities with no respect for nature and resources.
That said, I would love to be part of a this kind of life project and continue learning about gardening. I would also like to learn or develop my carpentry and construction skills, as my dream is to buy a land in Uruguay, close to my family, where I can build my house with my own hands and develop my life in contact with nature.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I am an accountant by profession, but I am looking for a new experiences. In Uruguay I also worked helping in my godfather’s farm, and in his Portable Sheep Bath business around Uruguay. In New Zealand I have a varied work experience, I worked as a Kitchen Hand (3 month), Farm assistant of Goats and Cows (2 months) Salmon Farm (3 months) and harvest works- Thinning Kiwi Orchard- Onion Harvest- Cherries Harvest (4 months).
I have had two recently experiences in eco- villages in New Zealand and they were both amazing and fruitful for my experience. I helped there doing some gardening stuff, planting, make compost, build fences for the animals, wood chopping, cooking, control the invasive plants and clean the dead sticks in the ponga trees.
