Description

Hi, my name is Em, and I am a lover: I love humans and I love nature. I love listening to people talk about their lives or things that are important to them. I love how strangers become friends and that despite our differences, we have so much more in common. Having cross-cultural exchange is a great way to bring us back to what is really important and worth doing in this life.
I am a dancer, and an admirer of music. I love sunrises, good food and try to make everything I do fun and whimsical. I enjoy my alone time but also get lots of energy from being around good people. I study environment and sustainability at university in Australia, and I am interested in conservation and ethical ways to live a good life in harmony with the Earth.
I understand I have a lot of privilege and skills, and I want to use them to create more beautiful connections between myself, my host and others, and make a positive and meaningful impact.
I am in a stage right now where I am trying to learn and become more patient, understanding that good things take time and it's okay to not be perfect. I am open minded and am very flexible and open to trying new things to help you and for me to build new confidence and skill.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Creative:
I often help out with land care activities (pulling out weeds, planting trees, removing or inserting fencing). I would love to learn more gardening/farm skills such as these.
I am a dancer and have taught both adults and children dance. This is my passion!
I am fluent in Dutch and speak basic French. I am currently learning Dutch but am interested in learning Sinhalese for my time in Sri Lanka!
I have spent time coaching children in sport and have spent time nursing baby siblings and enjoy spending time with young children.

Hospitality and Service Experience:
I work at a nightclub pouring beers and making the occasional cocktail. I know how to serve alcohol responsibly.
I spent 5 years in the cafe/fast food industry - I am very motivated and thrive off customer service.

Professional Experience:
I work at a charity in Australia doing mostly graphic design and writing reports. I understand how not-for-profits need to run and obtain funding.
I used to work organising and managing logistics and calendars, as well as updating websites and communication with employees. I am happy to share my digital/ICT skills with you, or help you with any web communication/ design.
