Description

Hi, I’m Emma, 24 years old and from Birmingham in the U.K. I’ve worked in marketing in London for the last few years, but I have left the busy city for the outdoors. I spent the last 4 months of 2024 travelling around South East Asia with my boyfriend. Travelling so freely was an absolute dream come true, experiencing different cultures, eating incredible new foods and meeting the most amazing and interesting people along the way!

At the beginning of 2025, whilst in between jobs in the U.K, I flew to Italy for an amazing workaway experience for the month of March. This was the best cultural exchange! I am now going to be based in the U.K for a while, so though I'm not actively looking for a workaway experience I will still keep an eye out for a future opportunity.

I’m a super positive, open-minded person. I think that there’s a lot of beauty in connecting with people and discussing outlooks on life.

What motivates me is learning, I’m curious natured and very open to trying to new things! Eager to learn from hosts and their way of life and help and assist as best as I can. I put all my effort into whatever I do. I'm physically ready to take on farm / gardening work, house work and other activities. And what makes me happy is family, friends, dogs, feeling independent and free and passions and hobbies like art, graffiti, yoga, equality, community and fashion.

I am interested in teaching English as it can be really helpful in providing others with opportunities who may not speak it well as of yet or who want to practice English more! I would be interested in learning other languages! I picked up some basic Italian whilst I worked away in Italy. I’d also like to learn Dutch in my lifetime, but open to learning pretty but any language - it just takes a lot of practice :)

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have practical skills, I'm intuitive and can pick up new tasks easily. With an interest in permaculture, I want to learn more about this in action. I'd love to get my hands grubby and help with gardening, farm work and other forms of D.I.Y work whilst I’m away, appreciating how to look after and live off the land we’re blessed with. After instruction, I can happily get on with tasks independently or in a team.

I can help with childcare as my family fostered children for 15 years whilst I was growing up, so caring for and playing with children comes as second nature to me. It was a very rewarding experience and I feel that from looking after children, you can learn a lot too! I can offer my support with children at any age and also help them with teaching and practicing English if desired. I also attended safeguarding courses via the fostering and was previously fully DBS certified.

I'm super animal friendly, with previous experience in dog sitting. I loveeee dogs, (cats are a close second aha).

I’m a very clean and tidy person, so I can happily aid in cleaning and housework. I can cook well and would enjoy learning how to make new dishes too.

I can help with creative skills, with a BA degree in marketing - I’m good with branding, profficient with computers and technology, social media, communications, design and videography. I love art and have skills in spray painting so I can transfer artistic skills and lend a hand on arty projects!

I am a big art lover, attending art galleries in the U.K and around the world as I travel makes me appreciate the creativity and intricacy of humans! I myself spray paint, painting graffiti and street art on legal walls in the U.K. It's a hobby I picked up in the last two years but it's been such an exciting one to sketch then paint and practice, meet really cool people through it and see my personal style and skills evolve! I absolutely love meeting people who share the same love for painting or admiration for art.

I also practice yoga, something I've enjoyed since I was a child as I loved to dance, tumble and stretch - I attend yoga classes and this brings me both joy and peace and most importantly it makes my body feel good!

And finally, I am one for feminism - equality is important to me and understanding the worlds social issues. I am open to having conversations around social issues whilst travelling as I like to learn and discuss perspectives, in a non-judgemental and respectful way.
