I’m Diogo, a 21-year-old Portuguese guy.

I’m a mechanical engineer, but I’ve always had a strong connection with the countryside, nature and animals, mainly because I grew up in a small village.

I’m a very active person and I love spending time outdoors. I’ve been a scout for several years, so I’m very used to working as part of a team, figuring things out and adapting to new situations. I’d describe myself as practical, curious and someone who enjoys learning and solving problems.

Right now, I’ve decided to set off on my own to explore Europe. This is my first Workaway experience, and my goal isn’t to simply be another tourist. I want to have real experiences, meet people, learn about different lifestyles and cultures, and for a while, become part of the everyday life of the people I’m staying with.

When it comes to helping out, I’m very flexible. You can count on me for maintenance, mechanical projects, DIY and practical work, but I’m just as happy helping in the garden, looking after animals or simply lending a hand wherever needed. I’m also very patient and enjoy spending time with children or keeping older people company.

Overall, I adapt easily, learn quickly and enjoy being useful. I’m always ready to learn something new, help wherever I can and, of course, have a good conversation and share some good stories along the way!

I am a native Portuguese speaker and fluent in English, so I would be more than happy to help anyone looking to learn or practice either of those. Since my goal is to travel around Europe and truly experience different cultures, I would absolutely love to learn at least the basics of the local language wherever I go.

Practical & DIY: With a background in mechanical engineering, I have a logical mindset. I'm great at troubleshooting, fixing broken things, and general maintenance.

Teamwork & Logistics: Years in the scouts taught me how to organize activities, work well in a group, and adapt quickly to unexpected situations.

Outdoor & Nature: Growing up in a village gave me practical know-how regarding physical outdoor work, basic agriculture, and handling animals.

People Skills: I'm a patient person, empathetic, and find it easy to connect and communicate with both kids and older people.
