  • Description

Hi everyone! We’re Amber and Eshaka, two best friends from London. We’re both 23 and are recent graduates of Biomedical Sciences, and Philosophy & History respectively. We’ve known each other since we were just 11 and have been firm friends since, even working various jobs together.

As avid travellers we have both visited many different places, and recently travelled to Hungary and Spain as a duo. Our favourite thing about travelling is getting to participate in native/historical traditions, which we embrace wholeheartedly. We’re both willing to try most things at least once, and have adventurous pallets.

Outside of our university courses, our main passion is working creatively which has birthed many hobbies such as crocheting, sewing, baking and jewellery making. We would love to share our hobbies with you! Also, we have both worked in various kitchens for almost 6 years now and have picked up many styles and techniques along the way. This includes traditional Japanese Udon, sushi and pizza.

As big sisters we also have a lot of experience with children and childcare, and understand the responsibilities of taking care of others and being positive role models/good influences.

A bit about us as individuals:

Amber - Hi i’m Amber born and raised in London, although i’m half British and half Dominican. I was lucky enough to grow up with a mum who was always seeking the next adventure which gave me a real appreciation for the beauty of other cultures and being able to get to know people with different views and lifestyles to my own. I would say this mainly manifested in my passion for cooking, which I view as the great love story of my life. I love to cook dishes from all over the world and have recently been exploring Persian cuisine.

Since university my aspiration has been to move somewhere more rural and embrace nature more. I have a small veggie patch at home but would love to be able to live off the land and make everything from scratch. I also love to read and my most recent read “Braiding Sweetgrass” has been a huge factor in wanting to move rurally as it is full of native teachings on how to respect the land and honour its gifts and teachings.

Eshaka: I’m Nepalese but I was born in Hong Kong before moving to the UK. During my early childhood I lived between the lively bustling urban city of Hong Kong and the contrasting quiet rural farms of Nepal. This has allowed me to experience many different cultures and that has always been my favourite part about travelling. Connecting with people from other cultures through our similarities and differences is something I am very interested in.

Similar to Amber, I love to read books, my most recent favourite is called Disfigured by Amanda Leduc which explores the misrepresentation of disability within our traditional storytellings and language. I love to read books about subjects that I don’t know much about, as it’s a simple way to become more knowledgeable and well informed.

I also love to make jewellery such as necklaces. I had my own business where I sold jewellery online for people in the UK, France and New York. When I travel I like to find interesting things such as beads I can bring back home and make jewellery with, so that I can carry the memories of my travel around! I love to teach other people how to make jewellery too, it’s such a fun relaxed way to bond with others.
