Hi. :)
My name is Daša, 30 years old.

I am a Special Education Teacher by profession. I have a Master’s degree from University of Ljubljana. I enjoy working with people with special needs as I feel like I can notice soon what they struggle with and I am very creative in helping them to get equal opportunities.
I worked as a Special Educator for 4 years in Slovenia. I worked in the afternoons in the student dormitories for students with special needs. I was responsible for a group of eight students with severe intellectual disabilities. I organised sports days – we went rock climbing, horseback riding, hiking with the Slovenian Alpine Association, we went on the sea side to experience more independent living… but we also just lived together and learnt from each other. There was many arts and crafts, board games, shopping and we made our own dinner every day! I loved my work!

Anyhow, I like to break the routine any time I can.

I went to Canada for a year (2022/2023) and I am flying to New Zealand in November 2023!

I wish to work in a hostel/home/organisation/garden (or anything, really :) ) in exchange for bed & preferably some food too.

In exchange I can offer my skills of hosekeeping (I've been a housekeeper in Canada for abut 6 months) , knitting warm socks, hats, headbands/earwarmers and sweaters for those windy and chilly nights. I can also amuse you with my very beginner-friendly ukulele skills and some delicious vegan meals.

I have been a volunteer since high school; mostly working with children with special needs. I did work in a hostel as a workawayer in Montreal and as a student job in Ljubljana.

I would say that I am generally a positive and upbeat person, willing to learn as much as I can. I have no problems adapting to different situations and am always trying to find something good in everything. I am passionate about upcycling and zero-waste. I love to hike, swim, climb or just walk around and discover the area. At the same time I also love to read, knit and crochet, I can also saw and throw a mug or a bowl on a pottery wheel.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have a lot of experience with working with children and well, people in genearal (Especially those with special needs of some kind) and I really enjoy doing that. There is always something new, the work is unpredictable and you can be creative, too.
I have some experience with gardening, but would really love to learn and do more. I learn fast so if you show me how to do it, the next time I won't bother asking you again. :)
I like photography and I do own a camera.
I also own lots of different crochet hooks and knitting needles, as well as a pair of climbing shoes.
I have Swimmer teacher certificate and I can teach swimming.
