Description

I'm in my 50's but still trying to figure out what I want out of life. I started off my life journey with the plan to live the kind of life that most people imagine is successful. I went to college, got a degree in accounting and began working in that field. It has taken me many years to realize that accounting was probably one of the worst choices of professions for me. Boredom and routine are my worst enemy. I seek out new experiences. love a challenge, and am always interested in gaining new skills. But I get the most fulfillment when I'm able to help others. I am very excited to have recently discover Workaway.info. While I'm new to Workaway, I'm definitely not new to travel. To date, I've been to 46 countries and 42 U.S. states. Whenever possible I like to travel with my dog, Josie, and I hope to get the opportunity to bring her along on some Workaway adventures.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I'd love to help out hosts any way I can. I've had a wide variety of experiences in my life so my list of experience & skills is fairly long:
-- Gardening & Yard Maintenance... I had my own vegetable garden on-and-off for many years and have had a yard to help maintain for a total of around 25 years.
-- Cooking... I've been told I'm a good cook and I love being creative in the kitchen.
-- Website design & Search Engine Optimization (SEO)... I have created several websites in WordPress. Some of them are for me or one of my businesses, but I've also created websites for other people. I enjoy doing SEO for websites and I recently finished a 5-course Specialization in SEO from the University of California, Davis
-- Running an short-term rental... I ran an Airbnb out of my home for 2 1/2 years.
-- Photography & Digital Art... I sold my photography & digital art at art festivals throughout Florida & Georgia for about 8 years. I have advanced skills in photo editing software, especially Photoshop.
-- Business Skills... I have a masters' degree in accounting and worked for about 16 years as a professional accountant/manager. Since leaving accounting I have established and run 5 different businesses. I have advanced spreadsheet skills.
-- Graphic Arts... In my various businesses I've created most of my own marketing materials. In addition to creating materials for print and web, I also have done some video editing.
-- Teaching... I've had a couple of professional teaching jobs over the years. I've also had a lot of experience with creating and presenting training programs on various subjects.
-- Scientific Research... Long after getting my degree in accounting, I went back to school to pursue an education in psychology. During that time I worked on several research projects and was one of the authors on a published paper.
-- Writing... I have a ton of experience writing for various purposes including technical reports, business correspondence, marketing materials, academic papers, and blog posts. ----- Crafting & Upcycling... I've been crafting for several years. I've made various mosaics but my passion is repurposing unwanted items and creating shell crafts.
-- Dog Training... Dog training is a fairly new skill that I've acquired. I joined a dog training club after adopting two rescue dogs in 2019. In addition to basic obedience, I enjoy training them on scent work, tricks & agility. One of my dogs has received AKC titles in all of these areas.

I'm socially liberal. I'm not religious but consider myself somewhat spiritual. Although I'm an introvert, I've become a very social one, and I seek to engage in meaningful conversation. I'm fully Covid-vaccinated and I wear a mask when appropriate.

  I don't have any severe allergies, but I try to avoid cigarette smoke and perfume.

  Régime alimentaire spécial
  I eat most everything. I do have a slight lactose intolerance which just means I can't eat a lot of cream. But most milk products don't bother me at all.
