Les activités qui m'intéressent :

I am currently nomadic for the winter months. (otherwise the Pacific Northwest ). Back from extended time in Greece and Turkey and wish to remain in the more southern zones until spring.

Description

I have had (and continue to have) a rich and amazing life (of course with ups, downs, and all arounds!) Traveled lots, raised children on large land/gardens/animals; lived in communities; owned/operated 21-year retreat catering business (until Covid). Passionate about food and feeding/nourishing people on all levels; am a musician, artist, and gardener and general lover of Beauty!
After covid closed down my 21 year (thriving) business I moved to Costa Rica and bought land and built a home and (airbnb casita) in a beautiful mountain area.
4 years later (now) I find myself selling my homes in CR and wanting to spend more time in the Pacific Northwest near family (2 sons) and long-time friends. That said I don't wish to be here in the cold dark months between Nov/Dec. and March/April.
Part of leaving Costa Rica is that I found myself feeling isolated and wishing for more engagement with people and working (even if volunteer only) opportunity. I am not looking to simply go somewhere warm and beautiful just to hang out and relax all the time. I'm happiest when focusing on a project/s, interesting occupation and most happy when it is contributing to someone else's happiness and well-being.
I have had so much given to me in my life and feel very much like giving back!

Having lived in Costa Rica the last 4 years and traveled in Latin America extensively my Spanish is pretty decent (though always room for improvement). I would be happy to use my language skills in which ever way I can.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have cultivated, used, studied many skills in my years. I am most passionate about food and all aspects of it from gardening to planning for and feeding many people (specializing a bit in 'use what you got' and 'special diet ' (to a point), to organizing helpers/staff. I am a good leader in this but also can be a good follower if someone else is in the lead...
As for gardening I have had many a garden both culinary and other, and very much enjoy the connection with growing food and really anything.
I'm pretty savey with computers and but not really up to speed with social media marketing. (I could learn)
I am a naturally organized and tidy person ... but not obsessed. I am observant and respectful to how people organize themselves.
I have done a fair amount of home exchange, pet and home-sitting (which is how I am organizing my life at the moment since leaving Costa Rica).
I have profiles on airbnb, home exchange and trusted house sitters if you care to explore my references/reviews.
Traveling internationally is something I have done a lot of so it doesn't daunt me.
I speak Spanish quiet well and enjoy intermingling cultures.
Hospitality is something that is enjoyable to me.
** just a note:
Though looking at my age # might seem 'old' I am fairly youthful for that # and have often surprised people when they were to guess my age. ;-)

I enjoy being active! Recently got an e-bike and have been having so much fun with it (though any bicycle would do). Like to swim, hike, paddleboard, and play pickleball.
I enjoy cribbage and scrabble... nice way to hang out with someone/s.
While I enjoy other company, I very much appreciate (and need) quiet solitude in balanced measure. I like to read and paint and craft.
For longer stays, I would prefer a private space to stay over a dormitory situation.
I did not specifically put that childcare is a skill, but I had children of my own and am quite capable of hanging out with kiddos some. (and babies). It is just not a preferable primary job I am looking for here with Work-away.

  Need to be careful with any corn or corn derivative ingredients. I don't have anaphylactic shock but I do have some gnarly symptoms from corn.
