Description

Hey, I’m Chanda from the UK. After finishing my masters in Anthropology in January I am spending this year travelling and exploring the world. I’m a super friendly, positive and easy going person who loves being around people and making new connections! I feel the happiest by the beach and in the sea but generally I just love being in nature. I love staying fit and active - my favourite activities include yoga, diving, surfing, hockey, skateboarding, windsurfing and most sports that involve water.

I have completed my PADI Advanced Open Water and have become addicted to diving - I hope to complete my dive masters in the future. I am also planning to complete my yoga teacher training in India during November so after then I hope to move around teaching yoga (especially in places where I can surf too!). I’ve always loved surfing and since I’m from a part of the UK where I can’t surf, I am also super keen to spend more time learning to surf whilst I travel and improve my skills.

My love & respect for nature has led me to have a great interest in sustainability and environmental protection work and I hope to go into this as a job eventually. Spending time volunteering in the Amazon jungle solidified my passion for this and also developed my interest in traditional herbal medicine and spiritual practices. I want to learn more in these areas!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I am very open-minded and willing to give all my energy into anything that is needed. I love to be sociable and am good at communicating with others so I work great in group settings.

I have experience working in hospitality - behind the bar, in restaurants, as a host and reception work - so I am used to dealing with guests and any problems they may have. So I would be great at helping out in any hospitality work that is needed such as administrative tasks, cleaning and communicating with guests. I have experience cooking dinner for a family each night during a previous volunteering opportunity and I am also barista trained so I can help out in these areas too. I also ran my university’s hockey Instagram page so I can help with your social media pages!

I am very active and I would particularly love opportunities involving water sports such as diving, surfing, windsurfing or on boats. In this case I have knowledge in these so I can help clean and organise the equipment or maybe help out in the water.

I would also be happy to teach English to anyone. As well as being a native English speaker, I have some experience teaching children when I volunteered at a school where I helped children with their reading and writing. I’ve also worked running team-building activity days at schools, being in charge of groups of 30 children at a time.

Since I love being in nature and around plants, I’m very open to working outside and in the garden and I’d love to learn more about agriculture and projects to do with environmental sustainability. I previously volunteered in the Amazon jungle, helping out in the garden, learning bio-construction techniques, doing general maintenance on the house (building paths etc) and painting - so I can help out in any of these areas too!

I would also be happy to help with anything that involves animal care too as I absolutely love animals and have had many pets of my own.
