Description

I'm Christy. I'm a natural giver and helper. I work in the public health and healthcare field.The last 10 years I've been grinding with school and my career and I'm finally allowing myself to slow down, enjoy life, and serve where I'm needed.

I will start my one year sabbatical in February 2020 and plan to use workaway as a means of global exploration! I am kind, caring, humorous, patient, resourceful, and considerate. I enjoy connecting with others, listening to other's stories, and learning from new cultures. I love to read, write, paint, and travel.
I live in Sacramento, CA (born in the Philippines); I plan to start my round the world travel in Mexico !

Right now, I work at a nonprofit that provides Native Americans with healthcare and education services - I'm very passionate about social justice and community development in terms of health and wellness. I believe it'll take all of humanity to heal from pain to transform the world - hard work but worth it!

My skills are diverse and I'm very competent and professional in whatever role I'm placed in. I have experience in customer service, been a medical assistant, community health worker, health educator (I'm great at communication and helping people understand difficult concepts). I thought I wanted to work in emergency medicine but ended up with my master's in public health because I believe prevention is critically important. I have a heart to help women, youth, and animals. I enjoy teaching, being creative, and working with my hands (gardening, organizing, etc). Also, I am a program manager so I am a pro at business operations, thinking about a vision and executing tasks on time and under budget.

I would enjoy a host who is willing to provide an opportunity where I can serve families or communities while gaining personal growth. I look forward to connecting!
