  • Description

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile!
I am a 24-year-old girl from a desert in Nevada. I want to help people through my natural understanding of others, attitude of nonjudgement, and calling for personal development. I am taking a gap year currently and want to use this time to do something meaningful and incredible. I have skills that I know other people need and I can't wait to meet them! I am open to learning anything in exchange for friendship.

I have taken 6 years of Spanish classes throughout high school and college and visited Spain for 4 months but I am hardly advanced or fluent anymore because I have not practiced in so long! I am at a beginner level in French. I studied in Nice for a month in 2018 and take a French class every Wednesday evening to keep up!

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I am an empathetic nonjudgmental and understanding listener. I thrive in a one-on-one setting, helping people solve emotional problems through a third-person perspective, active listening, and giving space to think aloud.

Ive worked with horses, donkeys, camels, and sheep while I was living at an animal sanctuary in Morocco. I feel very confident around farm animals, dogs and cats and would love any chance to be around animals!

I worked as a bar-back at a hostel in Zagreb and feel comfortable behind a bar, at a cafe, or in a busy environment!

I am a very organized and clean person and am the happiest creating order, hygge or purpose in/with a space.

I love being with people and am the best at creating connections and community. love learning about people and find myself creating deep, lasting connections with those around me.

I am generally a solo traveler and am a very self-sufficient person who doesn't require too much to thrive. I love the saying "bloom where you are planted"

I took a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course in Spain and then taught English in a high school in Sevilla, Spain in the first half of 2018. I am intermediate- fluent in Spanish as I have studied the language for 6 years and spent 4 months in Spain. I am at a beginner level in French but hope to be fluent someday as I am a dual American- Canadian citizen.

My previous jobs were in research, first working for a human sexuality lab, and then for a lifespan development lab- I have written more about this experience below.

Other weird skills I have are: doing flips, making coffee, and knitting.

  • Autres infos...

I love biking, playing frisbee, coffee, and going for walks in the forest.

I like podcasts, talking to dogs, thrift stores, and journaling each morning.

I love donkeys so much and dream of running a donkey rescue sanctuary when I settle down one day.

I really enjoy calm nights having deep conversations with a glass of wine but I am not much of a party animal (which I learned from working in a hostel earlier this year haha!)

I grew up in Henderson, NV, went to college in Orange, CA, and now call Portland OR my home.

I lived in a van for 2 years on the west coast in California and Oregon up until last month. It has a small bed, stove, outdoor shower, and small cooler. I love the "roughing it" lifestyle because I learned what I truly needed and what I could go without. I still have lots of the US to see but am looking for a different type of adventure at this moment in my life.

I earned a BA in Psychology in 2020 and I will be going back to school for a master's degree in counseling and have a career as a therapist! I am currently in a gap year as I mature, learn more about myself, and gain perspective. My philosophy is that I want to experience as much of the world as I can before I advise others on how to productively live in it.

During my undergraduate years, I worked in a lifespan development lab focused on studying adverse life experiences of women and children of lower socioeconomic status. In my time there I transcribed data from interviews and assisted in cognitive assessments. I was assigned to a cohort that studied mothers with children aged 3.5 to 5 years old. I had the opportunity to not only listen to the firsthand life stories told by women in hostile circumstances but also synthesis those stories into meaningful data that is now creating change in California legislation. Because of this experiece I feel called to center my future work as a therapist around helping young women and girls.

I pride myself on having an open mind, being non-judgemental, and practicing an attitude of love in everything I do. As well as respecting myself, mine and other people's boundaries, and communicating honestly with the people around me. I am non-confrontational, very easy going and tend to have deep friendships with a small circle of people. I believe the 2 biggest wastes of time are lying and bad attitudes!

I adore learning languages so maybe we can learn together or you can teach me something! I have experience with Spanish, French, and a small amount of Serbo-Croatian.

My life right now is about collecting experiences and interacting with the universe. I am true to myself and look forward to continuing this path of personal development through giving what I can of myself to others.
