Description
My name is Carmen, I'm married and have two sons. I have been working as a teacher for 38 years. That includes 25 years at a special school with children that have learning difficulties, for various reasons. I have studied Geography and Physical Education, but I also had to teach other courses. I am living with my husband in a small town in the eastern part of Germany, in the state of Saxony. My sons do not live with us anymore and have their own families.
I have traveled a lot of different countries like India, Fiji, Uganda, New Zealand and South Africa and have worked in private homes and children's homes.

I could work as an au-pair and take care of children, ages 1-12 preferably. I also like gardening, helping around the house and cooking.
We have a big house and garden and so I´m used to work in different fields.

I've had a sabbatical from 2009-2010 where I travelled to India, Nepal and Fiji, mostly to help in schools and children's homes making handicrafts with the children and teaching the teachers to do them with the children. Many of my pictures are from those travels.
From August 2017 until July 2018 I got another sabbatical, it means that I could travel and help in different countries and I didn`t have to work at my school in Germany.
Aug 2017 - Jan 2018: I worked as an au-pair for a young family with two children in Great Britain/England.
Jan 2018 - March 2018: I worked with "workaway" in New Zealand, at different places.
Apr 2018: I have been in Delhi, India, I worked in a school with underprivileged children.
May 2018: I have been in Uganda as a volunteer, I worked with children again, we also made handicrafts.
June 2018: I have been with "workaway" in South Africa, at different places.

I think Carmen was one of the hardest worker that we have ever had! She came at a time when we realllly needed help and she was helping with everything even when we didn't ask her. I don't think our kitchen has ever been as clean as when she cleaned it ;)

I had an interesting time on Paulas farm and in her family. If you can hard work there is enough to do. It is never boringly. I helpt in the household, in the garden, with the cows and the guest-cottage. I played with the children and made handicrafts with them. Carmen was working with is for two weeks in South Africa. She helped us in the gardens and she prepared a veggie garden for planting. I was very satisfied with her work. I work two weeks on Vanessas two farms. The most time I have been near by Riversdale. Here I prepared the big vegetable garden for new plants and new seeds. I stayed in a small cosy cottage. We had Carmen for three weeks from mid March. She was great with my 2 kids, Julia 4 and Philip 2. Kept Julia entertained with arts and took Philip to Playcentre a few times.
Kept the house clean and tidy.
Her background in education made interaction with the kids not just entertainment but educational.

It was a good expirience for me to stay in Debbies family. There are enough work, for example: pick up horse droppings, dig over, firewood pile up, window cleaning, hoover, tidy the rooms and hang up the washing, it was never boring. Carmen spent two and a half weeks helping me with household duties in Oamaru. What a great lady. Her attention to detail was impressive. Thanks so much for the through spring clean and wonderful job you did on my windows. House sitting and minding my 2 year old grandson. We miss you and that great energy you shared.
