🌿 About Us
We are Caroline and Mike from London — young at heart, and ready for a new adventure! After years of dreaming, Mike has recently retired and I’m finally taking the much dreamed of 'gap year' to explore Italy and experience the real country — its people, culture, and beautiful landscapes.
🌎 Our Travel Dream
We want to travel slowly and sustainably, so this will be a flight-free journey. We hope learn Italian, exchange cultures, cook Italian food, eat well, and have fun. We are keen to learn new skills, join eco projects, and make a positive difference along the way.
🌱 Our Backgrounds
Caroline - I was school teacher for many years and more recently, a Forest School teacher. I haven't done either for a while as I have been training as a therapist. More recently I’ve also planned and led mindful nature walks — I plan to combine these passions through 'walking therapy' when I return home.
Mike - I am an engineer, recently retired. I also love being in nature, walking and cycling.I had a job as a gardener many years ago, so have some knowledge of looking after plants; and am an excellent mower. I am very practical and can fix most things around the house. I have volunteered on several local conservation projects and have done dry-stone-walling, hedge-laying and more. I love doing practical work such as building and chopping wood and all things involved in working the land. I have reasonable computer skills and volunteer for a charity fixing computers and phones for vulnerable people.
💚 What We Can Offer
We are not afraid of getting our hands dirty or working hard . We are practical, reliable, and full of enthusiasm. We want to get involved in meaningful, hands-on projects which benefit the environment.
We’d be happy to help with:
• Gardening, eco or sustainability projects
• Permaculture and regenerative practices
• Creative or outdoor tasks
• Community, wellbeing, or mindfulness activities
• We are ‘Grand -paw-ents’ and love my daughter’s dog Kush, so would be happy to look after pets.
We are looking to connect with hosts who value nature— places where people care about what they do and why they do it.
🌻 Other
• We don’t drink or smoke
• We are omnivores but we mainly eat vegetarian and vegan meals
• We only want a host that can provide a private room
• We value peace, quiet and tranquillity
• We love to have deep and meaningful conversations

💚 What We Can Offer
Caroline - I’m practical, reliable, and full of enthusiasm. I love getting involved in meaningful, hands-on projects.
I am not afraid of getting my hands dirty — I can dig, weed, pick, clean, paint, cook, and follow directions. I’m always happy to pitch in wherever I’m needed.
Mike - can do all of the above and can put his hand to most DIY activities. He has been a part of several local conservation projects and has done dry-stone-walling, hedge-laying and more. He loves to chop wood, and is a whizz on the computer - he volunteers for a charity, fixing computers and phones for vulnerable people.
