Description

I am quite easy going as I like to approach life with curiosity. I am motivated by connection and experience and I know how to make the most out of the moment. I love animals and children, truly I love the world and learning how other people live in it.

I have experience with a variety of work, from the physical labors of farming, horseshoeing, gardening, landscaping to the examples of artistic/intellectual work: music video extra, child care, tutoring English, veterinary medicine, and water conservation.

I am a photographer, a writer, a painter, I am ravenous to learn; I have a love for history, culture and the arts which encourages me to travel. I am friendly, cooperative, engaged, adaptable and so very excited to offer my support!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I am an adaptable person with a wide ranging skill set and varied experience.

I hold a number of certifications:
- Certified Farrier
- TEFL Certified
- Certified Veterinary Assistant
- CPR & First Aid Certified

I was raised caring for and working with horses, as well as all kinds of animals from dogs to geese to guinea pigs to turtles, and I loved every one of them. I entered the world of veterinary medicine as a young adult and spent two years in the field at an extremely versatile hospital where I learned about every aspect of vet med you can imagine. I trained as a Farrier in order to be able to care for my own horses and my family now owns a farm that I help manage. All to say, I am no stranger to dirt nor hard work!

In a similar vein as animal husbandry, I am an excellent child caretaker. I have over 12 years experience in child care and experience as a nanny. I find child care extremely rewarding as I am inspired by the curiosity and creativity that comes naturally to children. I love the opportunity to cultivate and encourage that curiosity while creating a safe space for self expression. I am intuitive and gentle enough that kids usually bond with me easily, yet still confident and firm enough to earn the children’s faith and be seen as a leader. On this note, I also make a lovely tutor especially for the subject of English. I enjoy science and the arts, but certainly my strongest subject is language. I speak intermediate Spanish and am actively practicing to learn Irish as well as a couple other languages on a long list with hopes to learn.

While I have my certifications and undeniable excellence in the ways of animal and child care, my real love is with the land. I have spent years independently researching gardening and farming techniques alongside soil and plant science, most especially focusing on Indigenous American farming practices. I have applied this knowledge in my own gardens as well as educating others in my community where possible. I currently work at a farm that focuses on cultivating flowers and honey, and at this farm I have acquired heaps of information as well as having the great pleasure of sharing much of my own knowledge. This is the most rewarding work because this work takes the longest, all the excitement in the world and still you cannot rush the seasons.

I also worked for the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) on one of their conservation projects targeting the conversion of grass lawns into desert landscaping. For context, in Las Vegas, Nevada the SNWA offers a rebate program where they help pay for the cost of converting a water hungry grass lawn into a water savvy desert landscape so long as your conversion meets certain requirements. My experience with this program taught me more than I could describe about conservation of water, the impact of native plants, the importance of public education, and the way individual action adds up to collective change.

I have also been a part of countless art projects and taken on a variety of roles, most notably I was an extra in MGMT’s music video for their song Bubblegum Dog. I also work freelance as a copywriter and I work as a writer/ editor for a small magazine based in North Carolina.

I have more experience in countless other facets of life but I hope this offers a good understanding of my fluidity. I am extremely adaptable and can take on basically any task. Very quick to learn and I love trying new things!

To put it simply, I am a lover of life. Really I don’t take much too personally or seriously so I am not easily annoyed or offended. I feel a responsibility to be good to other people, and I genuinely feel joy when I complete a task to satisfaction.

I am a free spirit, I love to let my imagination roam and be engaged. To me this world is full of wonder, I hope to see as much of it as one lifetime will allow.
