I love exploring new places and cultures. Rather than moving through life hastily, I prefer to spend some time in one place to better understand it by getting to know the people, their culture, and their way of life.

I often find common ground with people by talking about the environment and how climate change has affected them and their communities, cities, and countries. This is an issue that I studied and worked on, and sustainable living and adapting to climate change are two issues I am both very interested in and want to learn more about. Now that I have some of the theoretical knowledge, I want to better understand the practical solutions that people are implementing.

While this is a cliché, every time I spend time away from home I learn so much. Mostly about what makes life worth living for me. The connections I make with people and places are incredibly valuable, and I love learning about them. I am intrigued by the Spanish language and the variety of cultures that are associated with it across Latin America and Europe. Learning the language, the histories and the ways of life shows me different ways to live my own life, which I hope will make me a better and happier person.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have done a lot of research and writing on climate change during my studies, and I am determined to have a more personal involvement in the local solutions to it. While I have little experience with the physical skills required for some of these, I am young, fit and a fast learner, and willing to learn and help out where I can.

I worked in a restaurant for 8 years, which has taught how to work together, what it means to work hard, and has given me some knowledge about cooking for large amounts of people.

I am true to my word and will do what is needed, I focus on solutions rather than problems, and I am adaptable to new and changing situations. I have experience with project management, having organised some smaller events for which clear communication and cooperation with different stakeholders was required.

I speak Dutch and English fluently, and have some proficiency in German and Spanish.

I enjoy reading a lot. Currently I am reading a lot about Spanish history, but previously I have read books such as Dune, biographies (Nelson Mandela, Edward Snowden, ...) and others, usually set in some historical setting.
I enjoy motorcycling and watching motorcycle racing. I love combining travel with motorcycles and camping.
I would love to learn how to dance! I have started to discover the feeling of freedom it gives and I would love to learn proper dancing (for example, salsa!)
And, while I do not have any experience with horseback riding, I am very eager to learn!
