Hi! My name is Brooke and I am from Oregon, USA. I recently graduated college where I studied Biology and Spanish. I am interested in doing immunology work in the future. This year I'm planning to work and explore new places and I am so excited for all aspects of the immersion experience! I can't wait to meet new people and improve my language skills. In my free time I love to hike, rock climb, cook, read, and spend time with my friends and family.

I have studied Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese in school. I think I could teach Spanish to people learning it as a second language, but my ACTFL level as assessed by the Spanish department at my university is advanced mid so I don't feel confident in my ability to teach above that level. I would be happy to teach English as a first or second language. I am also very interested in learning languages, whether that be improving my skills in one of the languages I have already started learning or learning a new language!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have some experience doing farm work and grew up with chickens. I also have 10 years of experience childcare and 2 years experience with tutoring kids ages 6-16. My degree is in Biology and I wrote two theses on malaria. I have wet lab skills and am a strong scientific writer. This also translates to being hardworking and detail oriented. I have also worked in a grocery store and a women's clinic, which helped me develop my people skills in a professional setting.

As a scientist, I'm also looking for lab work outside the United States and would love to connect with other scientists during my travels. I'm also a huge fan of card games and I almost always have a deck of cards with me to play with friends or strangers :)
