  • Description

My name is Asha Bittenbender. I am a second-year university student at McGill University in Montreal. I successfully used Workaway for a year and a half while travelling across Europe. I am seeking a return to my backpacking life for a month during the summer of 2018. I am especially eager to find a Workaway in a rural setting after two years spent in a large city. While I have extensive experience working with animals, I have likewise been unable to do so as a university student.
My skills include knowledge of fundraising and promotional tactics. My theatre and political science degrees have given me ample experience in communication. Travelling has taught me a lot more about working with people, however. My experience with animals includes several years of working with horses and donkeys. I have experience caring for goats, fowl, cows, and one genial pig. I also have extensive experience working in small pet rescue - dogs, cats, etc. - including in India and Greece.
I have volunteered previously on several Workaway projects, including on a house restoration in France, a chicken farm in Cornwall, and in a bookshop in Greece. I spent two months in Greece handling, guiding with, and training miniature Skyrian horses, and working, feeding, grooming, and guiding at a horse rescue on the Greek island of Evvia. Most recently, I spent a week with a family in the southern Czech Republic. I returned a couple of months later to help them sell pizza at a music festival. At university I have been working in development - fundraising - for a dance organization and a Student TV organization. I also dance, act, and direct at university.
