I'm Annie. It's simple really, learning new things, helping and experiencing life with others is what I enjoy the most.

I'm the happiest when I'm in nature, hiking mountains, swimming in the sea, cuddling animals and spending time with adventurous people with a positive attitude to life. I'm always open to new experiences, wherever they might take me; I'm sure wherever I go I'll meet interesting people, learn something new and see vast, beautiful landscapes.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
All through my life, I've been curious about the world and the people in it. I'm not scared to get my hands dirty, I've done anything and everything you can think of! And I'd love to learn and expand in every area there is. I have painted the outside of houses, worked on a vanilla farm, taken care of a calf, worked in a hostel, cleaned hotels, spent a month off-grid learning about permaculture, built my own bedside table and mended things back together before tossing it away or replacing it.

Whatever you need help with; wether it's gardening, mending, taking care of animals, cooking a good meal, I'm sure that I can do it! All I can say is, I learn quickly and work hard with a positive attitute.

I'm constantly seeing the world through my camera. I love capturing moments, nature, people, whatever comes in my path I'll always try to make a story out of it. That's why I'm travelling; to expand my view on the world and create new moments and memories with people and environments who inspire me and can teach me something along the way. The adventure has just begun and I'm ready for anyone and anything to come along for the ride 🌞

Annie stayed with me for almost a month in the dark and dearie November in the far north of Norway. That certainly did not deter her! She was SO helpful in so many ways! I had the most incredible time staying for a month on the beautiful island of Engeløya with Eva, Leyla, Knøtte, Tussi, little Silke and, of course, the hens! Eva’s smallholding is a truly special place, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes of mountains and sea, which I loved exploring on daily walks with Leyla.

From the moment I arrived, I felt… read more welcomed and embraced by Eva. It was like entering a warm, creative home where you could learn so much, to say the least! Little did I know all the things Eva would teach me about the importance of growing your own food, eating as locally as possible, taking care of what you have, and nurturing the people around you. One of the highlights was enjoying fresh, local, homemade food. It was truly inspiring to see how much can be created from homegrown ingredients.

Although it was a busy month for Eva, she was always kind and patient with whatever tasks she gave me. The work was varied and engaging, even though I was primarily there to help with a shorter video explaining how Eva made her incredible Eider down suit. I also helped with other tasks, ranging from gardening and animal care to assisting with smaller projects around the house. Eva is a patient and knowledgeable host who takes the time to explain tasks and always values your contributions. I learned so much about sustainable living, self-sufficiency, and even got to try my hand at ceramics, which was super fun! There’s always something to do, and I highly recommend taking the time to learn as much as you can from Eva, whether it’s knitting, ceramics, gardening, fermenting or many of her other amazing skills. You'll learn something new even just by having a small conversation with Eva, she has so much knowledge to share.

During our free time, Eva took us exploring around the island and the stunning surroundings, hiking on beaches, mountains, even showing us where she collects her local food, and where to go to collect fresh water from streams near the house.

Little cutie Leyla and the cuddly cats added so much joy to my stay. I even got the chance to take care of them on my own for a few days while Eva was away. Despite puppies and kittens being overwhelming at times, I loved it, and they truly make this place feel like home. I adored having Silke on my lap while reading in bed, and Leyla always checked in for cuddles if she hadn’t seen me for a while. So incredibly cute! You definitely need to love animals if you come here.

Eva’s kindness, generosity, and passion for her lifestyle left a lasting impression on me. I’m sure I’ll use much of what I learned here in my own life for years to come. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in nature, learn practical skills, and be part of a warm and welcoming community close to nature.

Thank you, Eva, for such an enriching and unforgettable experience. I hope we can try that sauna together someday!

I stayed with Pen and Steve for a bit longer than expected, but it was definitely because I enjoyed staying there so much! It was like a home away from home. They really do go above and beyond when it comes to teaching you about the tasmanian wildlife, agriculture and making sure you have all the yummy foods and (especially cheeses) you need. All I can say is, it was nothing like what I expected it to be, it was so much more! Being surrounded by the beautiful views of the mountains, waking up to sounds of birds and a fire to keep you warm at night, I couldn't have asked for more.
