Ich bin sehr kommunikativ und offen gegenüber Neuem. Mein Freund spricht sehr gut Englisch, wobei meine Aussprache noch ausbaufähig ist. Ich bin kreativ und trage gern zu neuen Ideen bei.

We stayed 3.5 weeks with Lara, Tony and their two daughters. Lara and Tony are such pure souls! We could talk about so many different topics, and it was such a pleasure to broaden our horizons and learn new things from each other.

Thank you to Amidala and Alex - what an awesome exchange! They both fitted in well to our busy family life and actively participated every day - respected house rules, helped hugely with chores (eg cooking, fire place, tidying up), great conversations, got on really well with the kids and animals.

Overall, we had a good experience hosting Amidala and Alex for about 3 weeks. They both fitted in well with our family and home, and they were lovely with our daughter. It was also great to see them getting along well with our other Workawayer and becoming part of the household.

Amidala was consistently hardworking and willing to get stuck into … read more things, both in the house and in the garden. She often helped voluntarily without needing to be asked, which we really appreciated. We also had lots of good chats, which I really enjoyed. It was especially nice that she wanted to practice her French, which meant we had a lovely mix of languages being spoken at home and everyone benefited from it. We always enjoy having multilingual conversations in the house!

Alex worked very well when supervised or when paired with someone else. He was particularly motivated when he was doing jobs he enjoyed, although there were some tasks where he needed more encouragement to get started, stay on task, or focus on completing the job well rather than simply getting through the hours or reaching the point of being "finished". With the right guidance and someone working alongside him, he worked very well.

One area that was a little unbalanced was the day-to-day household contribution. Things like dishes, cooking and general cleanup ended up being more one-sided than we had expected. This was particularly noticeable because, with previous Workawayers, this was never something we had needed to explicitly say or explain — it had simply been clear to everyone that when you live together, you help out with the household.

We talked about this during their stay, and they took the feedback on board well, which we appreciated. It has also been a useful learning experience for us as hosts, and we have since updated the FAQ we give to new Workawayers to make this expectation much clearer. We are a family home rather than a hotel, so contributing to cooking, dishes and general cleanup is an important part of living together. Having talked about it and seen that they were receptive to the feedback, we don't expect this to be an issue for them going forward.

They also made good use of opportunities to go hiking and explore the area, which was great to see. At the same time, their stay reinforced something we already know about our location: without a car, it can be quite tricky to be flexible and get around independently, so future Workawayers should be aware of that.

All in all, it was a positive experience having Amidala and Alex stay with us. We appreciated having them here, enjoyed the language exchange, and wish them both all the very best for their future travels and whatever comes next!

Daniela, Ray and Konnie are such a lovely family!
Me and my partner really enjoyed the stay.
We learned a lot about gardening, such as planting trees.
Konnie is a wonderful child, we loved playing and chatting with her.
The family was very patient with us which was perfect for us to get more confident with our tasks.

Me and my boyfriend stayed for 5 days with Kathy, Ryan, Alex and Elizabeth. We felt like home and part of the family really quick. It was such a pleasure for us to help in the garden and some smaller tasks. Also we really enjoyed the dinner together every evening, Kathy is such a good cook!
