Description

Hello! I'm Alexander, currently taking a travel break after resigning from role in financial services. Looking to explore and learn about different cultures and experience life in a different way. I love to try new food and cuisines and I enjoy cooking and developing an understanding of different flavour profiles. I spent a lot of time on a farm growing up so happy doing lots of different work i.e. looking after animals, laying concrete, painting, gardening, putting up fences, fixing walls, helping with a little bit of plumbing, making firewood, a little bit of tractor driving and quad biking as well. I wouldn't consider myself an expert but always happy to help out. Currently looking to travel to Scandinavia, Switzerland and Australia for their cold winters before the hot summers.

I also have a background in mechanical engineering so have worked with lathes and milling machines / have general workshop experience. I'd really enjoy getting back to some hands on work.

I have lived in multiple countries and volunteered in Nicaragua and Honduras helping to build a water pipeline as well as helping with putting on education workshops about general hygiene. Currently trying to also revise some of the languages that I had learnt in particular Russian and Chinese. Open to learning others as well - had been recently looking at German and Italian.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Currently a Machine Learning and Data Engineer and had trained as a Mechanical Engineer. I am familiar with workshop environments. Also having spent lots of time on a farm I'm familiar with a with wide range of different jobs from putting up fences, making firewood, looking after animals, laying concrete, gardening, pruning trees etc..

Can also help to tutor maths and have put on educational workshops previously. Eager to try new things and learn new skills as well. Like to think I'm a motivated learner and self starter for most things.

I enjoy running - have been doing some half marathons recently and hope to do a marathon soon. I also enjoy rock climbing and bouldering. Enjoy a good game of squash as well. I enjoy being in nature and hiking and generally exploring / travelling and experiencing new cultures. Have also been dabbling in video editing and would like to get better at photography.
