Description
Hi, my name is Lexi and I’m a 30-year-old female from the U.S.A,. I’m currently living in Madrid, Spain, where I’ve been since October 2025, teaching English to primary school students: mainly 1st and 5th grade, with some occasional work in infantil. I will finish teaching June 2026 and my visa lasts until July, after which it will transition into a tourist visa for another 90 days, and I’m currently exploring my next steps and how I might be able to return/stay in Spain as I have loved living here so far.

Alongside teaching, I also work online in social media management to support myself. While the online world isn’t my favorite space, it’s part of how I make things work for now.

I moved here with my 3-year-old dog, Cookie, a very sweet blue heeler–terrier mix I brought from the United States. She’s been my constant travel companion and a big part of my life abroad.

My ideal lifestyle is rooted in travel, culture, and connection. I love being in new places, meeting people, and learning how different parts of the world live. I’m very independent, adaptable, and comfortable navigating life without much instruction or structure. I thrive when I’m active (given I get enough rest!)... working with kids, being on my feet, yoga, swimming, and spending time near water.

Outside of work, I love cooking, staying active, and immersing myself in different cultures. I’m drawn to experiences that challenge my perspective and help me grow. I feel most aligned when I’m living outside my comfort zone and fully engaged with the world around me. I look forward to meeting you!

I have advanced skills in photography, reading/writing, and social media. I currently work as a remote social media manager for a skincare company here in Hawaii. My portfolio work is posted on my website: www.lexirosephoto.com.

I'm 7 months trained in the 200-RYT Yoga Alliance yoga program, however, I did not complete certification. I also have childcare skills from babysitting, pet care skills and sustainability skills simply from living an environmentally conscious life.

This was my first workaway and first time traveling alone to a foreign country. Initially, I was extremely nervous and not sure what to expect. Yes, it is rustic, it is in the jungle, its hot and humid, there are bugs you will have never seen before and you won't have hot water to shower in or air conditioning, but that is all part of the experience that makes it so special. Everyone else is going through the same thing. One thing I have to add is that the Wifi typically does not work unless everyone is at the beach or elsewhere, so you won't be able to use your phone except for imessaging or whatsapp at camp- which really isn't an issue because it forces you really to check in with your surroundings since you can't hide behind your phone. I also want to make clear that this is more a community than it is a surf camp. Everyone provides their part to this place (whether it be making food, teaching yoga etc.) and everyone knows each other well at the camp. Surfing, yoga, partying and all the other activities are just added bonuses. This environment can be a party environment depending on the group of people staying at camp, however, I am generally an outgoing/party person but I ended up only going out twice in my 4-5 weeks at camp (bring earphones if noise bothers you but they tend to make sure music is off by 11 pm). I also want to note that typically volunteers stay in a shared dorm. It holds 18 people and can be very cramped and uncomfortable from what I heard (I came in the low season so I was lucky to avoid the dorm). A bug net is also essential if you want to sleep without the fear of bugs biting you at night. Furthermore, Carlos is extremely passionate about what he does and wants everyone to be happy while stayed here as well. I have to say there are definitely some organizational/communication problems, but I can tell that Carlos and the rest of the staff are really trying to improve on that. I met so many amazing new people from my home country (the US) and around the world including two amazing girls I know I'll be friends with for the rest of my life. I learned so much about myself and about what is important in life here and I hope to go back one day. Thank you Carlos, Nati, Danny and Robert for everything! This place holds a special place in my heart. (P.S. Nati's cooking is amazing)
