Hi there! My name is Alisa (UH-liss-uh) (she/they). I’ve been deeply interested in building my own off-grid cabin and homestead since 2021, and I’m eager to gain hands-on experience with self-sufficient living through my travels and stays. I love being outdoors and enjoy learning about all aspects of nature—from identifying native plants and wildlife to understanding local waterways.

Beyond the outdoors, I also enjoy domestic work such as cooking and baking, cleaning, and organizing, and I’m especially excited to learn more about construction, woodworking, and home repair. I thrive on manual tasks that allow me to settle into a focused flow state. In my free time, you’ll often find me running, lifting weights, or taking what feels like a billion walks a day. I also have a strong passion for music and have been growing more interested in visual arts. I’m really excited to build community and learn alongside hosts and fellow travelers!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I’m skilled in cooking, baking, cleaning, organizing, and following instructions. I work well independently but also enjoy collaborating as part of a team. While my experience with power tools is currently limited, I’m eager to build and improve those skills. I’m well-suited for repetitive manual labor and heavy lifting—I genuinely enjoy physical work and breaking a sweat.

I’m a hard worker with a strong passion for helping others, and I’m especially interested in learning more about herbalism, homesteading, permaculture, and off-grid utilities such as solar power, rainwater collection, and greywater systems. If there’s anything I haven’t mentioned here, feel free to ask—I’m very open-minded and happy to try a wide variety of chores or projects!

I love board and card games—especially word games, Phase 10, and UNO—and I’m always down for Mario Kart or Mario Party. I enjoy watching cartoons and action movies, and skygazing and stargazing truly have my heart. I love playing sports, especially basketball. I’m currently training for the Austin Marathon, as fitness is a major priority in my life.

I’m deeply interested in self-development and astrology, and I’ve been exploring Daoism and other philosophical schools of thought. I’m very socially engaged and care deeply about collective liberation; I’m especially interested in anarcho-communism and often reflect on my relationship with capitalism and imperialism. My experience in the U.S. Air Force played a significant role in shaping my political and social beliefs—feel free to ask me about it.

I value my solitude, but I can also talk your ear off if the conversation is good. I’m looking to build community with BIPOC and LGBTQ-friendly folks from diverse backgrounds.
