Description
I am most happy when I am helping people less fortunate than myself, and immersing myself into different cultures. I love being around children, and teaching them English is very rewarding to do as a volunteer. My passions are singing, dancing and travelling to new countries where I can experience different ways of life.
I volunteer in my own country of Australia in many areas, as well as teaching English to new immigrants, which i enjoy very much.Langues

I have taught English for many years and am keen to continue doing so both at home in Australia and overseas. I believe that every person wishing to learn another language, particularly English, should have the opportunity to do so, irrespective of their financial situation. For this reason I am passionate about being a volunteer who teaches English as a second language. My parents immigrated from Europe to Australia in their teenage years and did not speak English at the time. They have shared with me the struggles and discrimination they experienced because of their inability to speak English. I wouldn’t want anyone else to experience this and that is why I am so passionate about teaching English. I love that by teaching English in a non-English speaking country I can help students achieve better employment opportunities among other positive effects.Compétences et connaissances que j'aimerais partager ou apprendre

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
I worked in the Australian education sector for 20 years, supporting students in both primary and secondary school that had special needs such as autism, Asperger’s, and sight & hearing impairments. I have also worked as a carer for people with special needs, as well as in the aged care sector.
I have done volunteering for many years as an English teacher for newly arrived migrants to Australia, as well as overseas in Indonesia and Vietnam. I have done this both in a classroom setting and on a one-to-one basis. I enjoy this very much as I get to see people’s improvement and the positive impacts this has on their lives.
I have also worked in school holiday programs and vacation care, where I have organised structured and fun activities for children aged 5 to 12 years. In addition to this, I do babysitting for children of all ages. Before I experienced the joy of having my own children, I worked as a live-in nanny in Canada for 3 years. This was an amazing and fulfilling experience!
During all my work and volunteering I have had many opportunities to incorporate my passions of singing, dancing and craft into the teaching of English as a second language. I believe that making the learning process fun is instrumental in helping people understand English.Âge
