Description
Hey I‘m Yaelle 25 years old and new on Workaway
Three years ago I went backpacking in Asia, that was a fantastic experience and I had some extraordinary and interesting encounters with people. But I had a feeling that something was missing. Then it hit me, I wasn't getting insight into the real life of the country. I want to embrace the culture and the day to day lives of the people that live there.
I‘m sick of only visiting the touristic parts of the country. I wanna see the true country.
Sadly i realised that to late when i was traveling in Asia, that‘s why I think Workaway is the perfect way to travel in the future.
More about my person:
I am very adventurous, like to try new things and experience something just to have fun in life.
I like to go on road trips with my small van. I love to be outside in the mountains: to hike or to jump into cold waters! Generally, I like water very much except for drinking, I find water too boring, I prefer tea.
I love to go climbing, unfortunately I go much too rarely. I also enjoy it when I can pick my own vegetables from my self-built bed on my small but nice balcony or when my plants, which I have grown from an offshoot, get a new leaf. When I'm not outside I like to read – I get to do that too rarely, too- listen to podcasts, audio books, cook, bake or clean up with pleasure. Professionally I work as a nurse with temporary contracts, because I have the opportunity to be more free, so I have already worked in many places and could gain a lot of experience.Centres d’intérêt

I find languages very fascinating, because through language, you can also immerse yourself more in the culture. I learned French in my au pair year. My mother tongue is Swiss German, but I also speak German. My English skills are something that I would like to improve:)Compétences et connaissances que j'aimerais partager ou apprendre

I work as a nurse, so I bring nursing and medical knowledge.
Privately I like to try out different DIY projects, have built a garden bed and a wooden decoration from driftwood.
I did voluntary work in Cambodia where I helped the local people to renovate a school building, where my task was to repaint the walls.
Before I started my education, I did an au pair year where I learned French and took care of 3 small children. Additionally, taking care of the pets was my responsibility so I looked after the chickens, the rabbit and the cat. Further, I helped the family to do the housework.
In general, I like to try new things. I also like to be inspired to learn new/further skills. :)Âge

Feedback
I learned a lot of new things, it was a wonderful week, the surroundings are beautifully situated in the middle of nature. Thank you for the stay, I will miss the delicious fresh food (but now I have also planted palm kale with them, I will try to cook the delicious food with it).
My work consisted mainly of household chores, weeding and looking after the chickens.
I felt very welcome in the family from the first moment.
The highlight was the lovely family evening with singing, dancing and comedy performances by the children and the card game afterwards.
Thank you for a lovely stay.
