Hello! We are Emily and David, a British couple currently living in Bristol, UK. We are in the process of planning our travels across South America for the end of this year, and we would love to incorporate Workaways into this experience! We are keen to meet new people, immerse ourselves in different cultures, and learn new skills.

A little about us - David has experience as a school teacher and recently worked for a charity that ran workshops for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Emily has supported victims of hate crimes through her work at a charity and recently worked within the equity, diversity, and inclusion team at our local university. While we both felt passionately about the areas we were working in, we both love to travel and have a strong desire to explore and see as much of the world as possible!

We love to learn, and are keen to develop our (very basic) Spanish and Portuguese skills! We are also particularly interested in learning more about farming and sustainable living. While this is not an area we know much about, we are both fast and conscientious learners, and would love the opportunity to find out more about this area of work.

We are very interested in learning the local languages of South America to support us during our travels. We hope that having a basic understanding of these languages will enrich our experiences and help us connect with the communities we visit. We like the idea of an immersive approach to language learning while working with our hosts. If anyone is interested in learning English, we are keen to take part in a language exchange.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

David is a certified English teacher with extensive experience in teaching and education. His background includes working as a school teacher and conducting workshops for children. This experience has given him communication skills and lots of patience!

Emily also has a range of experience working with people from different cultures, communities and backgrounds. As a result, she has strong communication skills and can is able to adapt her communication style to reflect the needs of those around her. Emily also has experience working with children, both on a one-to-one basis, and in delivering workshops and events in schools.

Both of us are very physically active and healthy. We enjoy running, swimming, and hiking, which means we are well-suited for jobs that require hard work and stamina.

We are quick learners and good listeners, always eager to acquire new skills and knowledge. We can get our hands dirty!!!

Overall, our combined expertise, experience, and abilities make us confident that we can contribute positively to any host's needs while enjoying the opportunity to learn and grow through new experiences :)

We have several hobbies and passions that we love to engage in during our free time. We both enjoy reading and have a strong interest in global affairs and a curiosity about the world around us!

We also love playing card games and backgammon. When we’re not reading or playing games, we love being outdoors and are super lucky to live in the South West of England close to beautiful moorlands and beaches.

We are both very social and love to meet new people! We look forward to sharing these interests and learning about the hobbies and passions of our hosts and fellow travellers!
