Description

I'm a 24-year-old guy, from Barcelona, who wants to help and live a rich experience. I'm a nature-lover, and I enjoy all kinds of rural activities. I moved to a homestead with my girlfriend and two friends a year ago and I definitely love it. I love to take care of my vegetable garden and I'm learning how to handle all the daily tasks a house in the countryside needs.

I studied Geology and Environmental Sciences and I really enjoy hiking, spending time outdoors and learning new abilities and pieces of knowledge. I used to work with kids in a volunteer pedagogic association so spending time with kids is something I like. I love animals, and I live with a dog and two cats. Some of my current favourite activities are gardening, cooking, drawing, climbing, running and playing racquet sports.

I'm willing to meet hosts and share meaningful moments together, exchanging languages, culture, thoughts and knowledge. I'm really easy-going and I got used to meeting with international people when I did an Erasmus stay in Czech Republic. My personality is pretty chill, but I love to socialize and have fun having a conversation, playing games or just sharing an experience together.

I've never done a workaway stay yet, but I'm thrilled to do my first one. It's a kind of experience that fits perfectly with my way of seeing traveling, meeting people, learning and community. I support community-based initiatives, and I believe in a climate-respectful way to organize societies. The way I understand the world and our role in it makes me look for actions like this, where people organize themselves to build wonderful projects while connecting with diverse human beings.

I also appreciate the non-commercial aspect of it, as I think that monetary relationships and consumption are taking up a lot of space in our lives, and there's something really valuable in helping each other up in exchange for something different from money. I'm convinced I can be a great help to someone, and I'm willing to know hosts and workawayers that share their time and thoughts with me as I will do with them.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I'm a geologist and environmentalist so I have some knowledge in natural science aspects. I work in a company and I'm in charge of soil analyzing tasks (such as taking soil samples, describing soil profiles...), and some water extracting projects too (usually bored wells). Before finishing my studies I've worked as a Spanish teacher, an English teacher, and I once helped in my uncle's bakery. One valuable experience I also have involves being an instructor for 5 years in a "boyscouts-like organization". That's the closest way I can name it in English, but it is a non-profit, non-religious organization, that aims to educate with values, through games and group dynamics. I learned how to handle kid groups, solve conflicts and express pedagogic messages in a friendly space. Besides my professional profile I've been learning some skills related to the rural lifestyle I'm adopting since last year, because I moved from the big city to the countryside. I've been gaining experience in tasks related to wood-collecting, gardening, plumbing, electricity, chicken caring, pet caring... and I still have a lot to learn and I'm pretty excited to do so in this matter. I have a special interest in vegetable gardens, permaculture, food forests and so on, and I thing that's the field where I learned the most, but still a lot to learn. I consider myself a good cook, and I do house chores daily since we don't have a washing machine and we live in a big house, so I'm used to cleaning, and keeping an active life rhythm.
