Hola! We're Melanie and Johannes, a lovely couple from Berlin who have been together for four wonderful years. We both live in Berlin where we are really lucky to have a big group of friends we love spending time with and doing all kinds of different projects with.

Johannes currently lives in a lovely shared flat with three other friends, while Melanie lives alone. Johannes is actually from southern Germany and came here to work and then decided to stay in Berlin and start a new study (Public Health), while Melanie grew up near Berlin, where her family still lives. We're both really sociable, but we also love spending time alone or as a couple. We've been sharing a hobby of working and repairing our small boat here in Berlin for a few years now, and Johannes can also sail! Together with our lovely friends, we have a great collective where we love to organize music events and build artistic stages for festivals and events. We're really fun-loving and adventurous, and we love discovering new things and laughing a lot! We adore hiking, skiing and anything else that involves mountains and outdoor activities. Together, we've set ourselves the goal of taking a break from work after our final theses (Johannas completed his master's degree this year, Melanie her doctorate) and breaking out of the usual structures for a while. We're really excited about all the new experiences we're going to have together!

We are currently taking Spanish courses so that we can speak enough Spanish before we start our trip. We are very keen to constantly improve our Spanish on our trip and are happy about any help in whatever form.Johannes grew up partly in the States and in an English school in the Netherlands and therefore has a very good English & German skills and is happy to teach. Melanie worked for a year in a retirement home in France and therefore speaks very good French.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Melanie grew up on a rural property near Berlin in East Germany, which was originally a farm. Animals such as chickens and rabbits were therefore constant companions in her childhood. Dogs and cats were also looked after there. In addition, many crops such as potatoes, lettuce, tomato plants, and other vegetables were grown in and outside greenhouses. As a result, she has basic experience with horticultural activities. As the family is generally a working family (mother a gardener, father an electrician), she learned early on to tackle any manual problem herself.

Johannes, on the other hand, moved around a lot with his parents as a child and learned to adapt to new environments and people quickly as a result. The constant changes in his childhood have taught him many social skills. This is one of the reasons why he became a ski instructor because he loves teaching people things. But he also enjoys learning new things. Nothing is too much trouble for him and he likes to tackle new challenges and apply new things constantly.

In recent years, we have coordinated our own projects at festivals with a team of 20 people and built artistic stages out of wood. We both learned how to use tools and wood in the process. We can operate circular & cross-cut saws, drills, screwdrivers, flex, jigsaws, and many other standard construction tools. We both know where our strengths and weaknesses lie and are therefore not only a good team together but also work well in teams with other people.

We love being with people, but we can also get along well on our own. This is not the only reason why Melli has found her profession as a psychotherapist. Johannes completed his MA in Public Health in the middle of 2024 and is currently looking for the next challenge in life. Since graduating from school, he has already tried out a few things, from flight attendant for an airline, to ski instructor for three years in Austria, to sauna master in a spa in Berlin. Until his departure, he was also a successful DJ in Germany and Berlin.
