Hello!
My name is Thomas, and I am a 22-year-old from the West coast of France, near Nantes. I am currently in my fourth year of engineering school, focusing on environmental sciences. I have a passion for exploring new territories and have fun experiences while contributing to environmental protection and sustainability.

The Workaway experience has always intrigued me, and after a wonderful volunteer experience earlier this summer, I am eager to embark on this new adventure. I love meeting people from different backgrounds, discovering new cultures, and trying new things while participating in environmental preservation or at least experience life without polluting to much!

Although I am new to Workaway, I have experience working abroad and am always eager to learn new skills. My parents instilled in me a strong work ethic, and I started working on farms and other manual jobs at 16. I am handy with gardening and have learned to craft things and use tools from my father and grandfather, spending my free time helping them on shipyards. I am resourceful, adaptable about learning from and contributing to the day to day life of people.

I am a native French speaker but can also speak English fluently, having worked in the Netherlands last summer. I also learned Spanish in school and practice it occasionally, though I am not very proficient.

In my free time, I enjoy crafting, particularly with wood, adding technological components from my studies. For example, I made a raft inspired by Roman galleys for my friends in less than a week. I also love sports like running, basketball and other activities like fishing, and hiking.

I am very excited about the possibility of joining your daily life, helping in your projects, learning from your expertise, and sharing my enthusiasm and hard work :)

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

If I had to choose one word to describe me, I would choose resourceful. I'm always trying to find a way to accomplish my tasks neither it's something physical or not!
My best skill for that is my abilities to craft thing! I am very handy. I learned everything from my dad and grandpa, who are trained carpenters! I build all sorts of things: from furniture to rafts, to fake Roman columns, and even obstacles for a "Koh Lanta" challenge at my school! I love gardening and helping my parents in the garden, lending a hand whenever I come home!

I started working early in the fields, so I understand the value of manual labor, which is important to me because I don't want to be seen as an engineer who doesn't understand the realities of work. I enjoy working and getting my hands in the grease, as we say in France!

I also had the opportunity to do an internship at an aquarium in France, where I helped the keepers feed the fish and sharks, and train the penguins... A wonderful experience :)

In addition to that, being in my fourth year at a digital engineering school, I have a very good command of scientific subjects. Specializing in Robotics, Drones, and Artificial Intelligence, I have a strong mastery of various programming languages: Programming connected objects, developing artificial intelligence algorithms, creating websites, databases, etc.

I have a few other hidden talents, but I keep those secret and would be delighted to discover new ones!!

I'm engaged in a lot of association activities especially in my school. I love helping other people mostly because my mother gave me her taste for pedagogy and education as she works as a teacher in middle school!

I'm a huge fan of sports. I play basketball but I also love running and hicking and all kind of activities in open areas!
