Hello! We are Théo and Monika, a 25-year-old couple currently traveling and working in Canada.

We both share a love for exploring new places, meeting people, and learning from different cultures. Our backgrounds are different, but our skills complement each other and allow us to adapt to many types of projects.

About Théo

I’m Théo, a 25-year-old carpenter from Belgium. I’ve been working in wood construction and carpentry for several years, and I enjoy the creativity and teamwork that comes with it. Even though I take pride in my craft, I’m also eager to step outside of my trade and try new kinds of work while traveling.

Outside of work, nature plays a big role in my lifeI love hiking, camping, and simply enjoying quiet moments outdoors. Music is another passion: I play guitar. I enjoy both playing and listening, as music helps me slow down and connect with the moment.

I’d describe myself as calm, reliable, and organized. I like to contribute in a steady way, whether it’s helping with practical tasks, supporting a team, or just bringing a positive and relaxed energy. Traveling has been a dream of mine for years, and I’m excited to discover new cultures and share meaningful experiences through Workaway.

About Monika

I grew up in the countryside, surrounded by animals like ostriches, goats, chickens, rabbits, and cats. I’m not afraid of hard work and know how to take care of animals (except for spiders 😊). Creativity is also a big part of who I am—I studied and work in the field of design, which gave me a strong sense of detail and an interest in how things function as well as how they look.

Music is another passion: I sang in a choir for 10 years, I play piano, and I enjoy listening to music that has depth and meaning, from classical compositions to longer pieces beyond mainstream hits. In my free time, I also like climbing—both indoors and outdoors when possible—and I love deep conversations about people, life, and perspectives.

I believe my biggest strength is empathy and social intelligence, which help me connect with others and adapt quickly to new environments. I have already worked independently in Canada several times before, without Workaway, in three different places. Together with Théo, we decided to create a couple’s profile here because it makes connecting with hosts and sharing references much easier.

Why Workaway?

We are motivated to travel, discover, and share our skills while learning new ones. We enjoy working as a team and also appreciate tasks that allow us to connect with local communities. We are flexible, curious, and open to many different roles: from gardening, maintenance, cooking, and housekeeping to animal care or creative projects.

We are both fluent in our native languages (French for Théo, Czech for Monika), and we both speak English at a conversational level.

We are excited to meet new people, help with projects, and make meaningful memories through this journey.

When it comes to languages, I'm always motivated to learn more. While I don't have any specific language in mind that I want to improve, I'm open to discovering new languages and improving the ones that I already know. I believe that learning a language is a great way to connect with people and cultures from around the world, and I'm excited to see where my language skills can take me. In particular, I'm interested in learning the language of the place where I'm traveling to. I believe that learning a language is a great way to immerse oneself in a new culture and truly experience all that a place has to offer. Whether it's a new language or one that I already know, I'm always up for a language challenge and excited to expand my linguistic horizons.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Hi there! I have 4 years of experience as a carpenter in Belgium, and I've learned a lot during that time. I've worked on a variety of projects, from building furniture to constructing entire structures. Carpentry is a skill that I take great pride in, and I'm always eager to learn more and take on new challenges.

In addition to carpentry, I studied biology for 3 years and found it fascinating. While I didn't pursue it as a career, I still have a deep interest in the subject and love to learn more about it whenever I can.

When I'm not working with wood, I enjoy cooking and helping others. I find a lot of satisfaction in creating delicious meals and sharing them with friends and family. I'm always willing to lend a hand to those in need, and I love to volunteer my time and skills to help others.

I must admit, I'm a bit of a workaholic. I love to stay busy and productive, and I always strive to do my best in everything I do. I'm also a very active person and love to stay fit and healthy. Whether it's playing sports or going for a run, I enjoy being active and pushing myself to be my best self.
